Buster, The Penthouse, and a Good Run

A beautiful winters day, or is it?
Buster, the Siberian Husky could really care less,
as long as he gets to explore and run.
This road used to have trees on each side,
and we would drive down the road
on our bikes and pick
Saskatoon berries that would hang
in clumps on the trees  in the Summer.
In the Winter we would take the
snow mobiles out for a run
often causing our Dad to be upset with us
for making him worry
as we had no regard for keeping track of time.
Buster, my fathers dog still goes on
pretty much the same run everyday,
except now he goes alone,
and I really feel in my heart
that he still looks for my Dad.
What a loyal friend he was.
I love to watch Buster run.
Every once in a while he would catch scent
of something and would be sidetracked for
a while, or would start digging a hole,
or go for a swim.
It is so good to see an animal free.
It is easy to see why such a dog are great sled dogs,
They live to run, they are beautiful to watch.
This is Buster after about a 5 mile run.
He is such a beautiful animal.
Here is Busters hotel, He likes the luxury penthouse.
He lives on the farm with my brother now,
They have to keep him on a chain at night,
otherwise Buster is off on another adventure.
Check this dog out on the video below,
to watch them just makes my heart feel good.
This has to be pure bliss to a Siberian Husky,
probably that and a big ole bone,
Remember enjoy life and the beauty that surrounds you.

  1. Cindy, what a gorgeous dog Buster is! My friends just lost their Husky this past autumn, he was 13. They lived with him all over the Europe and for many years in Canada. His name was Yukon. Huskies are wonderful dogs! Just love them! Speaking of dogs, Monday morning I accidentally eat my dogs pills ... ha! no comment ... if you'd like to read more, see my latest post :-) Hope you have a wonderful day, hugs!! ps: love the new color of your hair!

  4. Oh, yes! That beautiful dog looks like he is having the time of his life!

And I do believe Buster will look for your Dad until his last breath. That loving, loyal bond knows no boundary.

I like the red too! I used to change my hair color a lot ~ but for now I'm going natural which is salt and pepper.
    All the best,
    Eileen

    1. Eileen I think he will keep looking for Dad, when we drive our truck into the yard when we go to visit, Buster goes crazy. I think he thinks it is Dad because we had the same truck...he always jumps in the back and then we take him for a run...I wish I could get to the point where I will just let it go au natural...maybe one day.
      Sending a hug your way.

    1. Some blogs won't let me leave comments. I can leave comment on yours this way by replying to someone elses comment.

That is a great video and Buster looks so happy to be running through the snow.

Why were the trees removed along the trail? You said there used to be trees on either side.

    2. Hi CiCi, I know Blogger seems all amuck. some people are saying if you have google chrome you won't have the problem....I have googlechrome, so who knows....The video is actually not Buster, I was a little unclear, just a Siberian Husky from Youtube, Buster is actually bigger than that one...So similar though.....the trees, about 90 % Have been cut down and the farmers plant crops right up to the roads. It drives me crazy, it was so beautiful when we were kids growing up.....hope you are well, I think of you often and have been to your blog but have not been able to comment the last couple times. will try again. take care. hugs.

    1. Anyes, they are awesome. Before Dad died he told everyone he was going to get a Husky that he had always wanted one....I am glad that his wish came true. He had Buster for about 7 years.

    1. SueAnn I know, he does go in sometime, but he hates it in there, the house that is....and you can't get him in if it is above minus twenty...they also live so close to the train track that they do it for his safety too. My dog when he was younger he did not want to come in, he has a big fenced yard, now that he is older he does not stray very far from my feet. I took him to the farm once, he was terrified of the cattle, my Dad thought it was hilarious. I do agree with letting them run free, not the cattle the dogs. hugs to you.

  12. Buster is beautiful. I have never owned a Husky, but have had quite a few dogs. We have a Golden and a Schnoodle right now. I love the memories that you shared, and your words about appreciating everything around you.

So much snow. We usually have lots too, but this year it has been so mild in New England.
