Don't Text Message Me!

Nothing irritates me more than when I have company or go somewhere and people are textmessaging....Do I sound old? DO I sound like my parents used to? I know many people use them and I understand how they can be helpful....but don't text message me, pick up the phone and call me, or better yet come and visit! Upon entering my domain you are requested to keep textmessages on off, if there is such a thing! At Christmas this year after supper, the teenagers all were on them texting. So full from supper that they could not help with dishes, but they still had the strength to type into thier little phones! Good for them! I don't know, somewhere manners have gone right out the door!... It is not the childrens fault though, I believe it is the parents! we finally got a cell phone last fall, so we would have it in the vehicle in case of an emergency. We apparently can text on it, don't know how, don't want to learn. I know some people will read this and say, wow she is living in the dark ages! Maybe so, but I visit my friends face to face! So tell me people, am I the only one, or has this hit a nerve with you, or are you the texter? This is Cinner about to make a phone call, or God forbid maybe write a letter!!!Sounds like a concept doesnt it. Take Care, have a great day! OH, OH, OH....how about the texters that are driving, drinking coffee, doing their makeup.........? oh I just better leave it alone. Later.

  1. I agree 100%! Texting is the dumbest thing I've seen in a long time..has caused many auto accidents and has even taken lives. People are so rude when you are trying to talk to them and they are staring at thier phone! Just say NO to texting!

  3. I am with you!

My 22 year old sister and I will be talking on the phone and she will request that I "hang on", suddenly I will hear these disgusting little swishy taps and know that she is texting. WHILE I'M STILL THERE. I did not know you could do this, but apparently you totally can!

I'll admit it, I hang up on her.

I mean, isn't that just SO rude? Argh...

  4. I don't get texting really - it's so much more effort than calling. My sister (the mad texter) says that it's good sometimes to text when you don't want to have a long phone convo (like "meet me at the fountain) and I can see that. But I used to date a guy that wanted to text while he was working because he couldn't be heard talking. I would get irritated and just tell him to call me when he could. I have 300 texts a month on my phone - and I use like 5...maybe.

I think it is only going to get worse with these...but what do I know, as one of the nieces said....ah your just an ole lady with a fanny pack....i told her in so many words, its not a fanny pack! LOL. Take Care

  6. Oh Char, would the 300 texts be to you? I think there is nothing like talking in person. I understand just a quick text, but otherwise just don't know. Thanks for sharing about this.
    take care for now!

  7. Count me in for the "no texting! Hubby and I went to Disney with our daughter and grandson last spring, and she spent an hour, having a "text" argument on the phone. We got so annoyed with her, we took our grandson and walked away to where she couldn't see us, but we could see her. It took her almost 5 minutes to realize we were gone! We finally told her to stop or we were going back to the hotel. In the end, she was embarrased and sincerely apologized. I think it is such second nature to the younger generation, they don't realize how rude it can be, but it's certainly not for us.

  9. my sons? text text text. when I'm at work, I'll text in response. I wouldn't have a cell phone except for I have had to use it in emergencies, and now we all use cell phones and don't have a house phone anymore. I hate phones. I also mostly 'hate' email only in the sense that it doesn't compare AT ALL with the sensation I get when I either send a bonafide postal letter or RECEIVE one.
