Not a sound...oh wait!

I am awake at dawun. It is 422 am. There is not a sound in the house other than the slight hum of my computer. I am at peace with the silence. There are no demands on me, I am alone, but noway lonely. The outside has come alive with the singing and chirping of the Robins. My what stories they must be telling. Have you ever really taken the time to just listen to them. It is actually quite thrilling. They are here most mornings and also come early evenings just after I water the grass. It amazes me how they can find an 8 inch earthworm amongst the grass or in the flowerbeds. They gather and disperse. They probably are off to feed their young. The house next door has pigeons living on it. Nobody has lived in the house for three years. The pigeons continue to be their every season. Durning the day you can see their young trying to fly. I actually saw an older pigeon push a baby pigeon off the house. It flew, not fast but it flew. The cooing can be annoying sometimes because their is quite a numbe of them. I don't find them as intriquing as the robins though. My favorite bird is the hummingbird and the canaries. We do not get them here, but at my parents farm they are there all day long. It is so peaceful to watch them play and eat at the feeders. Their colors are so vibrant, I could watch them all day. I am lucky that I live in an older part of the city as we have all the mature trees, thus one of the reasons for still attracting as many birds as we do. The sound of my coffee pot brewing has brought me back into the house. The quiet will soon be gone, The neighborhood will be abuzz with traffic, garbage trucks, buses picking up children, etc. I am glad I have had this moment with the robins. I hope you can take time to really listen to what intriques you. Take care,

  3. Peace to you my friend. Your images brought peace to me today. By Canaries, do you mean the Gold Finch? I never heard them called wild canaries till I moved to Western PA...I only knew them by their bird name before...I wonder are we talking about the same birds? I have so many of them at my feeders!

  6. If they're very bright yellow with some black feathers and markings, then yep, Gold Finch.
