You just have to embrace it, or cry in your soup.

Surprisingly enough to me when I looked out the window this is the scene,
yes my one lone every green tree has spoken harsh words,
the words here to stay entered my mind,
seven long months of winter ahead,
Everything was laden with  snow,
and the temperatures have dropped,
so there will probably be more,
I went to the back door and opened it,
I was met by the fresh smell in the air,
chickadees had arrived  at one of the bird feeders,
although they have been seen for about a week,
now they were conquering their breakfast
in no regards for any of the others,
beautiful to watch really,
Oh that fresheness beckoning me outside,
some has melted slightly over the day,
roads will be slick tonight.
I find a heavier coat, boots, and my gloves,
I go out and grasp the hand of an old friend,
Hello Winter.

  3. HI CINNER

I smell snow long before it arrives and when it does appear it is like the essence of home made bread fresh from the oven - fills my senses ahhhhhhhhhhh
I want to stand at your back door and look out with you - to the stillness and white blanket of Winter.

    Love you SO much

  7. Boo Hiss! You can keep the snow. Definitely not my old friend...no way! I hate driving in it! But it is around the corner and I am not a happy camper. I should learn to embrace it. Sigh! But it will not deter my walking...onward!!
    Hugs

  8. Ooooh, you have some snow already. Wow. We drove to our new house yesterday and it was supposed to rain but didn't rain till we got back home to the old place. Yes, we are trading in the little hippie house and moving to a smaller hippie house. Much smaller. Ha. That means less work, you know that appeals to my little hippie heart. Stay warm, friend, and take pictures as your scenery changes.

  11. Hi!

That snow must be a bit early even for Alberta? Guess it depends on how far north you are!

Our weather has taken a turn for the worse, but it is just wet, windy and chilly, usual British stuff really.

  12. Our winter last year was unending - I'm not ready for it this year! I can't believe it's snowing in your part of the world and here I'm wearing a tee shirt and dodging rain drops. The snow can't be that far off.

  14. Hello sister, I am not sure if I am ready for the long winter, my only solace is the thought of Christmas and the warmth of the wood burning in the fireplace. I am sure I will decorate early this year as that makes me feel happy.
