This could be my Christmas Card this year! I took the picture a couple of years ago. This makes me smile and think of my Dad. As some of you know my Dad died the end of May, 2009. To make a long story short he was going in for hip surgery and suddenly passed away. Nobody knew what had gone wrong. We finally found out today, so now we all have some peace on his passing. He had had Bypass Surgery 7 years ago and finally his heart gave out. So we are blessed knowing that we had an extra seven years with him. After I found that out today I had the best sleep that I have had in the last six months.
My husband had the day off and I had a doctors appointment at the University and then we went for lunch. It was a nice outing. Also good to get out and see the buzz that is already going on for the holiday season.
I just wanted to wish everyone A Happy Thanksgiving! In Canada we celebrate in October!
I am grateful this year that I happened upon blogland as I have met so many wonderful people!

Liss, I woke up this morning thinking about your ham swirls, so I have to make them.lol liss I had the best sleep last night in six months, and woke this morning feeling so relieved. Take care, happy holidays.

Eternally Distracted, You really make me smile. I love your blog. you have a great sense of humor my friend. I love your stories. Thanks for your kind words.Hugs from across the way.

  11. Jackie, thanks for the kind words, I really slept good last night and feel the weight of the world gone....About Boxing Day, it is a day family does things together...going skating, we spend it at my mother in laws and all the extended family usually show up. The big thing with boxing day are the Sales in the store, especially if you are there early. I don't venture out that day as there are too many to contend with and I would rather just relax. I used to work in the West Edmonton Mall and it is like a zoo in there....if you have the patience you get some really good deals. Back home we used to have wiener roasts and go skidooing, our family and our first cousins. It was always an adventure for sure. The boxing Day Sale usually lasts into the New Year....I am not a shopper and don't need or want a thing! I guess it is like your
Black Friday Sale? Have a very Happy Holiday!
Your very special to me. Take care.

Bernie, hi Thanks for the kind words. You know Bernie, I really had the best sleep, now we know and are not worrying that maybe we could have done something or watched for signs. We were blessed with the seven years and God knows when it is our time, so I for sure feel comfort and closure for knowing this. I dreamt about him last night. He was happy. Big hug Bernie, I hope you are well my friend.

  12. gorgeous shot - and i'm so glad that you have the closure of knowing what happened.

Winter blessings to you and yours!
    Beautiful photo too...BTW!

  14. I'm glad you have the answer now as to what happened to your father. Sudden deaths like his are so hard (I had that with my mother and my sister) but once we have an answer it seems that we can rest our hearts and get on with allowing our grief to settle.

I think this photograph could very well be your Christmas card -- it's gorgeous!!!

You and I will be enjoying the parade on tv and having vicarious post Thanksgiving enjoyment since we did ours in October!!! :)

Thanks Cora, winter blessings to you too.

Char thanks, have a great lunch with your family. Thanks for your kind words. It is amazing how calm I feel about this. Take care my friend! big hug back.

  17. I'm so glad that you finally have some closure to your father's death. Not knowing always seems so much worse than getting to the bottom of things. My mom passed away in 2000, and it's been a slow process getting used to living without her presence in my life. Lucky that we have memories to keep us company and to keep their presence alive for us.

    Many blessings to you....

(and, yes, when I really, really need to get things done, I can be a whirlwind of activity. It just takes a little prodding, I guess!)

  18. Roban, I am sorry to hear about your Mom. The slow process you talk about I can understand, Our family has been in a whirlwind of emotions, but I really have slept better since I have known. Some people say time makes it easier. I just wish I knew when. My husband brought home a chocolate pie, and I started to cry, and I said, oh that was dads favorite....so I have found out we can cry and laugh at the strangest of times. Many blessings to you to.

Thank you for taking the time to leave me a comment. I value your opinion and your friendship.
