Healing Project for SeLah - Can you help?

Peace and Blessings!

Do you know of anyone in your life that has shown deep, unwavering love for God’s Creation?  I do.  Her name is Selah.  She is my wonderful friend, my true sister, and a passionate supporter of humankind; now, she needs our help.

Selah has used her blog,
Necessary Room, to help hundreds of people in need.  She has brought people together from around the world, allowing people to use Necessary Room as a platform to give, to love, to heal, and to establish beautiful friendships.  “Practice Kindness” is how Selah explains her online projects to uplift the sick and love the forgotten.   One of my favorites is, "Selah’s Angels", a project established to send an anonymous card to encourage those who are battling cancer.

Now, it is time to help her; Selah has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Because she believes in natural healing, she has decided to attend theHippocrates Health Institute in Florida. Total cost is $5,000.00.  Her health insurance will not cover the cost.

Will you help Selah continue to help others, by helping her?  If everyone can give a little something, it will go a long way.
You may send electronic donations via www.paypal.com to: Roxannbc@aol.com or you can mail donations to:

72 Fairview Oak Place
Dallas, GA  30157

Will you post this announcement on your blog?  Thank you.

Thank you, in advance, for your love, support, and prayers.  I started a non-profit organization for people who want to heal mind, body & soul; It is called Light, Liberty & Love, Inc.  Stay tuned…

Have questions?  Email me at vickie.mujahid@gmail.com or call me at 678-478-0777.

Light, Liberty & Love, always

11/11/11 May We Never Forget

Today I wear the poppy as a reminder of  the men who died for our freedom. May We Never Forget! When I hear the poem In Flanders Field, it tugs at my heartstrings! Please today Remember and Honor the men and women whom fought for freedom and a better world.

Rethinking My Priorities!

I love these doors for many reasons.
I look at them and I am reminded that life is about choices,
whether your day be good or bad,
or whether we even choose to come out behind those doors.
I worked for 23 years and then when I became ill with Cataplexy,
I became very isolated....Cataplexy is the loos of muscle control
usually triggered by strong emotions. My mostly have been triggered
by laughter. I am doing quite well with it at the moment,
for more info see my Cataplexy page. Because Cataplexy is a symptom
of Narcolepsy I have been prone to Excessive Day Time Sleepiness as well.
So due to this and not changing my lifestyle I have reached an all time
weight high. My problem is that I am not consisted with my efforts.
I know what I am doing wrong and what I should be doing to make
things right.
When I was working at 250 I could work twelve hour days,
no problem, socialize, was active, full of life.
And then when I got Cataplexy I lost all my independence.
I could not go out alone for I never knew when I would fall or how long
they episodes would last. I could not drive, hardly walk, to put one foot in front of
the other was almost impossible. So I learned to hide behind the doors of my house.
I know it sounds crazy, it was easier, it was safer,
Things have gotten better since my surgeries as far as health wise,
but the weight remains an issue.
When you read this tomorrow I will have made my way out of the house
by myself to something new.
Working a Weight Wise Program
to change my lifestyle before I need to make my decision about
various types of surgeries..
Over two years ago I watched my Dad die
due to heart failure and I vowed I would take care of my health.
That I would not be the one on that stretcher
way too early in life.
I have hid behind these walls, afraid to go out.
My husband has offered to take me,
I have told him no that I need to do this on my own.
I need to use the options that are available for me.
With the help of trained professionals we will set up a plan
for me to follow and work on.
You see you just don't go and have a gastric bypass done,
because if you have not worked on why you got to the way you did,
it won't change just because you had surgery.
Since I have been so isolated and safe in my home in the sense of
I am not afraid of falling, or cars backfiring, or being startled, or seeing
something funny that will trigger a spell.
I have to do everything I can to get back out there,
and the only way is to do these things on my own.
I have been called to this program twice before
and chickened out, yes I  did,
but not this time.
..........
My husband thinks I don't need to change anything about me.
The man is in denial as to health issues that are slowly developing
because of my weight.
We will work through it,
Nurses, Dieticians, Doctors, Occupational Therapist,
Behavioralists, etc. I will be in the best hands I have
allowed myself to be and I think I would be
doing myself a diservice if I don't work my
hardest to make this happen.. I will be working
with the Dietician on a No Wheat Plan
as it has been very successful for a couple of friends of mine.
...................
I don't want to talk much about this on my blog
but I did want to acknowledge that some things in life are not easy,
My main obstacle right now is getting out the front door
in the morning....
I do fit out the door and I don't want to hide away
behind these doors anymore.
I have to admit I will worry all night
but I know I will be just fine once I get there.
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Besides if I am going to sky dive when I am 50,
I better work at this goal,
because I want a healthy life ahead of me.
..............
Thank you for reading,
I admit I could be considered a hermit,
Maybe that is why I find so much to appreciate
with nature and its gifts everyday.
.........
On a lighter note Hubby said to me tonight,
He has figured out how To Have The Happiest Marriage.
So I ask how,
Well we should go out twice a week for dinner.
He will go out one night,
and I on another!
You have to know him with his sense of humor
it was very funny.
........
May you enjoy your day
and face things
head on!

Extraordinary...Our Friend Char

The difference between ordinary and extraordinary
is a little something extra.
by Jimmy Johnson

I sat here for what seems like hours yesterday
thinking of my friend Char from Ramblins,
Today I can only tell you that she was
an Extraordinary woman, photographer,aunt,
cook, as I learned in every post she shared with us.
She encouraged and inspired
She evoked feelings of peace in my heart
every day.
She was loved and is loved by many.
I will miss you Char.
You will always be remembered!
...................
Can you imagine the photography
she will do in heaven.
A quote she had on her blog.
It's not what you look at that matters,
it's what you see.
(By Thoreau)
.................
She reminds me that life is short,
and she would want us all
to live and have
Our Very Best Days.
................
The music I listened to today
was Goodbye My Friend
by Aaron Neville and Linda Rondstad.
...........................
I know you are in a peaceful place
and that gives me some peace.
Until we one day meet.
if I could be so blessed..

A Part of My Paradise!

Outside my back door,
the pleasant smell of lilacs lingers in the air,
pleasant, soothing, present.
A gift only for a few short days
The colors different hues of purple, lilac, soft whites
whispering touch me, smell me,
breathe in my esscence
One of the ladies in the garden with the alabaster skin
stands on guard,
the protector of the flowers is my Venus
her beauty as daunting,
marble chiseled into such form.
Treasure!
She seems to smile
on the sunny days when color surrounds her.
Days when sun and shadows fight for glory,
A much too noticeable dance they play.
The bright yellow in strong contrast of the purples
standing high amongst the branches
that reign supreme over head
The stains upon the flowers left behind
from the last windy rainy day,
still beautiful., are these like laugh lines
on someones face,
more beautiful because they are there...
Once again the clouds roll in sending me a wild mustang in the right corner,
How wild and free, she must float in the clouds,
and in the other corner someone is watching,
do you see the face,
and by the mustangs neck do you see the heart shape?
no need for editing, enjoy take it all in.
As the clouds darken the skies,
the lady of the garden prepares for night,
stoic and on guard.
The aromas of the lilacs lingering as friendly reminders of the day.
The flowers slowly wrap their petals into protective mode,
In the morning once again they will unfold,
and open to greet the day,
They will reach for the sun baking in the warmth,
waiting proudly for someone to acknowledge
the gift and joy they give to the world.
...........
.Have a beautiful weekend.

come sit on the bench

We had a lovely weekend,
I had hung up the bird feeder in the back yard.
It used to be my Dads. It was hanging up for about four days
before the little birds spotted it with the seed.
Today I sat out on the bench in the back yard
and watched the goings on  at the feeder.
I must of had thirty birds at one time there Dad,
it reminded me of the times I would come home and we would sit and watch
the birds. Your birds were much more colorful, I guess because you were in the country.
Oh the joy we would both get from seeing the hummingbirds at your feeder.
Do you remember when I said to you, Dad you should just sit back and watch the birds
more often, and you got mad and said how the heck old did I think he was.
Okay he did not say heck, and with that he went off to work in the field.
That was my Dad, hard working and proud.
May 30th marks the two years since he died.
He was taken very suddenly and unexpected from us.
Our love continues to grow for Dad more and more everyday.
I  feel him when I am in my yard, my appreciation for nature comes from my Dad.
I have no words to explain how much I miss him
and how much I realize he was a pillar of strength in our family.
Oh how I wish we could sit and watch the birds together.
So Dad come sit on the bench with me......
I can see your face as plain as day, see the twinkle in your eye,
I can hear you laugh, I can see you raise your one eyebrow,
I can feel the strength from your great big hands,
I can even see your messy hair, I can hear Mom telling you to comb it,
and you would leave it how it was just to annoy her.
Strange the things I have thought in the last two years,
the memories I have remembered, things that I had forgotten.
There are things I wish I had said, and things I wish I had not.
Somehow we manage to get through it, and face each day.
Well I am not going to cry, you would not want me too.
You know this whole dying thing just sucks,
I know it is a part of life, I wish there were a way to prepare one
for these things that knock the wind from under us.
So if you can, come watch the birds with me.
I will be sitting on the bright hot pink bench
....you know the one that made you shake your head.
I love you Dad, now and always!

Slave Lake, Admiration and Memories

There is approximately one third of the town gone. As of yesterday there were still 84 fires burning in our Province, thousand of acres of land have been destroyed, families have watched everything they had be destroyed. Amazingly I have not heard of anyone whom was hurt. I know I would be devestated and my heart goes out to all the residents. I have been very proud to see the generosity of others and how people step up with donations, etc. Firefighters flew in from all over Canada. People come together in times of trouble and chaos. People have still not been let back into Slave Lake due to the dangers of gas leaks, power outages, and all the damage from the fires. Some people still do not know if they have a home to go back to. ...Even though it is a holiday weekend here I am praying for rain for Northern Alberta to help squash any existing fires. Be safe this weekend whether you are on land or water....appreciate every moment, be compassionate, be grateful........
And on this holiday weekend I am remembering my friend Derrick and his son whom were taken from us in a storm on the water four years ago. We all remember your smiling faces....
So have a great weekend everybody. Life is such a gift, I hope you enjoy your very best of days. Until next time take care, Cinner

Views on Life through My Eyes.

The weather has been fantastic, it is supposed to be plus ten tomorrow.
And the sun is warm, the days are longer.
The only thing that could make me happier is if I ever get a hummingbird in my yard.
The above picture I took at my Dads before he died. We did that for years.
On the farm there was always many more birds than we get in the city.
We would watch the hummingbirds dive at one another
fighting for their sugary water, then they would flit away,
but would be back soon.
A nice memory.
........................
This morning my hubby has picked up his Mom
and they have gone to a funeral for a family friend.
He was 93 years old.
What a wonderful age to achieve.
I am always in awe of someone with such longevity
and often wonder how they have felt with all the changes they have seen in the world.
....................
I am saddened by the shooting of twelve innocent children
shot in Brazil in a school.
I feel so bad when these things happen,
and Have to Ask Why,
and sadly there are no good answers,
it just leaves my heart heavy.
...........
It also reminds me that life is short
and to live the best I can.
.............
As far as American Idol
I am still in shock that Pia got sent home.
They are all so talented, and I think they will all go far with their music.
I have to admit I am a huge fan of James.
I am amazed at what he has overcome.
The emotional side the other night
had brought me to tears.
..............
Well I better get moving, off to have lunch with some family
after they are back from the funeral.
Amongst crowds my Cataplexy acts up so I did not attempt to go.
I just become too tired..
.............
Whatever you do today
I hope you enjoy,
I hope you laugh,
I hope you love.
I hope you dance in your heart.
And if you are like my friend Beth,
I hope you jump as high as you can.
Live your best day.
Until next time.

A Wedding Winter Wonderland!

Hi Everyone, we have returned safe and sound  and are back from
celebrating my younger sisters wedding.
If you can believe it the day before there was hardly any snow,
and this is what we woke up to. My sister had called first thing as I was staying at my other sisters.
She said Have you looked outside? I could sense her annoyance,
and I said Think of it as a Gift from God, knowing that as I am saying it,
she is still wishing for better weather.
Surprisingly it did not put a damper on the day,
although a few friends and family could not come because of the roads.
My sister looked beautiful, and her two boys walked her down the aisle.
To me the boys looked so handsome, of course I have never seen them dressed up like this before.
The younger one at the end of the day said he was never wearing shoes like that again,
that his feet were killing him and he was going to get married in his bare feet.
Here is the lovely couple leaving the church
to the song I Feel Good by James Brown.
They are both so happy.
The only sad thing of the day was all of us missing our Dad,
especially my Mom. It was the first family function since he died May 30, 2009.
We know he was watching from above and would have been very proud and happy for
my sister. The next day, after the wedding, my older sister had the rest of the family over to her house,
the snow was melting, water was running, and the boys and Uncles played Cribbage for part of the afternoon.
......
We came home on Monday, the weather is beautiful and signs of Spring are all around us.
My husband is off on holidays this week, so I am enjoying the time with him.
We were going to go to the mountains but with the storm that had blown in, we opted to go another time.
It turns out the honeymooners went to the mountains....like we wanted to crash their time alone.
.........
I hope you have all been well and know I will be around to visit your blogs and you
all very soon.
Until next time,
Have Your Very Best Day.

Sometimes It Is Just Right.

Imagine my surprise when I managed to get both the front and back door
as the truck was going 100 miles per hour.
No I was not driving hubby was,
and there I am snapping pictures for all my might.
We laugh he asks how many pictures of old buildings, fields, hay bales
does one girl need,
as many as one wants I tell him,
he just shakes his head, deep down I know he is happy
just for the minutes of silence when I am the worst back seat driver known to mankind.
Sometimes I am surprised he just does not stop the truck and throw me out,
but I would get a picture of that!
Ahhh now I know the reason why.
............
Today I feel very content, peaceful, joyful,
grateful and understanding that
nothing is perfect, nor is it supposed to be
............
This morning I prayed for health and happiness
for everyone that is suffering from an illness, homelessness,
loss of loved ones, hunger. I asked for hope and understanding
during difficult times. I was thankful for everything I have,
Happy that I have eyes to see, ears to hear, nose to smell,
mind to think,  hands to write and hold, legs and feet to carry me,
heart to love, What a wonderful gift we are all given.
As I am typing this I am listening to Nature Music,
coffee is brewing, pets are sleeping, sun is rising,
My Day Awaits!
...........
May you have your very Best Weekend

Tulips, Light, And My thoughts, and Bernie!

hello to all,
I had a 48 hour rest and feel better.
The surgeries I just play a waiting game,
hopefully they will happen soon,
so I get my rest and all will be well.
These tulips gave me so much joy today,
I felt happy and alive,
I felt the promise of Spring
to come soon on this minus 40 below day.
The sun shone for a while, so I started to play with my new Digital
Canon from Hubby for Valentines. Call me a Happy Girl!
My dog Kula being housebound because of the weather
has taken it upon himself to watch my every move
in the hopes that there must be a treat for him soon.
Ha Good Luck with that one until much later.
I relaxed early evening with tea lights lit in the living room.
I could watch the twinkle and glow for hours,
simply hypnotizing and dreamy.
I lay on the couch, soft music was playing,
Hubby was reading Sports Illustrated.
I was thankful, I felt loved, I felt hardships and pain
that a few of my friends have been going through,
I lay there and prayed that they find peace,
and understanding during the grieving process.
I want to wrap my arms around my one friend Bernie,
whom has lost 4 people recently.
I wish her strength when she speaks today of the loss of a dear friend.
I know she will do well because she speaks from the heart.
I feel saddened by her pain and grief that she will go through,
she is so strong, and she made a comment saying that if I
needed anything to just call her. There is no end to her kindness.
can  you imagine of always thinking of others first.
She has a special gift and is a very kind and wise woman.
Odd that I have never met her, I have talked to her on the phone
and feel like I have know her for a long time.
I hope your weekend is bright and cheery.
and that we can all enjoy and somehow
with the light remember all the goodness
that comes our way.
Have faith.

What an Outlook.

Oh what a wonderful day here,
The sun is gleaming into my office,
I can hear the pigeons cooing on the neighbors roof.
Yesterday I had a doctors appointment,
so things are now in motion to have my hernia fixed,
as well as a few other stomach troubles.
so it is just a waiting game.
I sat in the lobby waiting for my husband after parking the truck.
I love to people watch.
Most of the people were so bundled up they could hardly move,
The middle age woman next to me was on the phone
saying, well lock yourself  in your room,
I will be right there she said.
as she hung up the phone she sighed a heavy sigh.
I felt my heart go out to this woman, not knowing all she was dealing with.
A little girl came up to me and stood looking at me,
she was about two, the cutest little thing,
great big brown eyes,
I put my hands over my eyes
and went peek,
and she laughed, now the game was on.
her mother seemed relieved to have her entertained for a few moments.
when hubby came she followed us to the elevator.
After the appointment we had the pleasure of meeting a fellow in a wheelchair.
The elevator was jammed full, this gentleman had such a happy disposition.
One lady said, I know you from somewhere.
No they could not figure out the connection,
He says well maybe I  was taller before.
Everyone laughed. I swear I could have followed him around all day.
Turns out he and the other gentleman work for The Canadian Paraplegic Association..
I am sure he helps many people with his wonderful attitude.
I really believe that we come in contact with people that we learn lessons
from every day. I would have loved to have learned his story.
I bet it is an amazing one.
We all have choices on how we live our lives.
Today I am grateful to have a fighting spirit,
grateful for the sun, grateful to recognize signs all around me,
grateful that I live my simple life, grateful that I don't have to rush my moments,
I am grateful for the day.
Smile, you never know whom is watching,
and how you may change their day,
even for just a moment.
be well.

And then they danced

Hello to All,
I am just touching base with everyone.
The wedding was wonderful.
I had such a wonderful time, and was so happy to see all my relatives children.
Of course my relatives too, men in kilts, the bagpipes,
the bride she was simply stunning.
the groom was so handsome.
I manaaged to make it to the church and to the reception.
That was major for me,
check out some of these little loves.

this little one won my heart over and his baby sister above was only
ten days old.
this little fellow nick named Kiki
was a going concern,
giving his approval to the celebrating that was going on.
The music was a great selection and was appreciated by every age.

The groom was a true gentleman and made a little lady very happy.
And the bride and groom,

two of my favorite people.
I was so glad to share in their lovely day.
I had the best time, and was thrilled to leave minus 38 and arrive in plus 12 weather.
The 3 days flew by.
now I am visiting my sister and Mom.
I just wanted to say hi and I will be by to visit when I get a moment.
Big hugs to all.
Cinner

A Way Of Life.........

One thing about driving back to the farm
is the wonderful old buildings you see along the way.
I have lived in various cities for almost 28 years,
but still consider myself a farm girl at heart.
I think because it represents a simpler time,
although it represents a hard life as well.
but it represents family and good times.
I see the beauty in the old buildings
representing a history of unknown characters
but yet know that there are similar attributes of all of them.
It also reminds me of my Dads stories,
how everyone would get together and help one another
build the houses and barns, etc.
This barn is similar to the one I remember on the farm.
Of course the old granaries,
that are now usually made out of steel.
Many hours I shoveled grain in such buildings,
along side my older sister. funny but how I hated that job.
But I did love driving the tractor
I
love this photo and would love to get my hands
on some of these old barn boards.
The typical red barn.
leaning from years of wear,
I wonder how many new calves were born in this barn,
or did it provide shelter for horses.
Everyone of the buildings would have stories to tell.
For now all hidden behind closed doors.
This building may have been a playhouse for some children,
or maybe a woodshed. It sits alone amongst the trees,
that too have grown weary with age,
all the photos remind me of my father
and his chosen way of life and his fathers
and his fathers father.
Those ancestors all gone,
but remembered ever so fondly by the remaining members of their families.
I was very lucky to grow up on a farm, some day my plan is to be on an acreage.
Where ever I end up, I will always remember where I came from.
Do you love old buildings?
What reminds you of your past?
I would love to hear!
..............
Take care and may you have the Very Best of Days.

Country Roads Take Me Home....To The Place.....

This was the morning of our trip to the farm,
what a beautiful sunrise. It was a little foggy
but we were just thrilled there was no snow.
I love starting the day with a sunrise.
Really our world is full of so many spectacular things.
Here we are just a little ways further out of the city,
I can never pick one sunrise over the next, I just find them all simply stunning,
especially when the snow sparkles like diamond as the rays
illuminate the whole area. True Bliss for me.
Daylight almost here.
There was very little traffic on the highway,
I somehow felt I was being guided home.
That God was doing this all for us.
What a gift.
I sure am a Prairie Girl,
I just love the snow, and the snow drifts,
the fresh air, there was some frost on the trees
hard to see here though.
We could see a lot of deer tracks in the snow, That was a close as we got to any deer.
We were blessed with this amazing moon, I have never seen anything like it,
The bright orange started looking like a square on top of a silo.
It was very strange. because it was square it did not even look like the moon.
The eclipse had been two days before so I was surprised to see this.
Can you see the face....the Man on the Moon?
It was bright orange for about one hour
and then it turned into a normal colored moon.
I wish you could have all seen it for yourself
because this picture from my little point and shoot
just does not do any justice to it.
Just about home.
After what seemed like a short night sleep due to Mom and I sitting up
until almost one in the morning, hubby had long gone to rest.
This was the few from the living room outside.
Do you see all the snow hanging overhead on top of the roof.
What a beautiful winter wonderland outside.
The evergreen grove was planted years ago when
my father was about ten. He had planted them with my Grandparents.
Looking at those trees made me think of my Dad,
I could smile and remember our stories, the times we sat in the room,
This year I could smile, my heart was not as heavy as last year.
The view from the lane,
just white everywhere.
This is Buster, my brother and I are following
him in the truck. luckily my brother has a bulldozer
that he can clear the roads. they really have a lot of snow.
Nothing makes The Siberian Husky happier than being in the snow.
Here I tripped over a snowbank having a Cataplexy spell.
I could show you pictures of the dog licking my face.
my brother kept laughing at me, then I would have another Cataplexy spell.
Finally we were able to settle down and get me up.
my right wrist and knee were sore for two days.
My glass was frozen and a change of clothes were necessary.
And I forgot to make a snow angel in the snow.
Buster has to be tied up as there are a bunch of coyotes in the area.
That and he chases the cats!
This is one of my favorite pictures,
by the side of the trees over by the granaries,
some winters there could be 10 feet high snow banks
and we would go and build forts and tunnels in there.
We would get home to the house with the reddest little cheeks,
telling them what a fantastic time we had,
As soon as we were warm and our boots and clothes
dried by the old wood stove we would wander back out
to our forts and to our in imaginations.
Here it was almost the end of  the day.
As beautiful as the sunrises, so are the sunsets.
As beautiful are the days, so too are the nights
The first day flew by so fast, and when we left 2 days later,
both Hubby and I  looking at another sunrise
said, What happened to the days.
They just flew by.
He reached out and held my hand,
We were quiet both reflecting on our visit,
both ready to get back home,
and the wheels and the sound of the motor continued.
It was going to be a Great Day.
I hope you have your Very Best Day Ever.
Take care
