A great weekend for soccer, training, resting, yard work..........

Hello to all, my weekend was a lovely one,
The weather was hot on Fri, Sat, and Sun it rained a little,
and Monday the day planned for yard work was
a bust. It rained on and off. we did manage to do a few things.
Sunday we had gone and helped my MIL in her yard.
Had a lovely visit. She is 84 and has finally admitted that it is
not quite as easy as doing things when she were a bit younger.
We managed to barbecue a couple of times this weekend,
I don't care what anybody says I love barbecued steak,
barbecued chicken, mmmmm maybe tomorrow again.
We barbecue at least 300 days of the year
even in minus 30 below weather
he will be out at the barbecue.
The lilacs are almost ready to bloom,
as well the carigana trees are starting to bloom too.
not sure on the spelling.
The white lilacs are coming too. I will have better pictures next week.
Setting up some ground rules over the soccer game,
or soccer ball chase.
the big guy Kula loves his soccer ball,
but does not like you to get it away from him.
Rosey can run faster than Kula,
the following picture shows the consequences.
You get rolling around quite a lot and end up spending a lot
of ground time, it is all playful. He would not hurt her.
Oh I  can see yard work calling my name.
The cat was barricading herself in the house,
as there was just too much chasing going on,
and she knew both dogs would soon forget the soccer ball
and change it up for ala kitten.
They all annoy me because they keep licking at the window.
Here is my favorite plant after it rained.
It looked so pretty with all the water droplets.
Looks to me like someone is getting a talking too.
Must have chewed on something again,
usually the other dogs tail.
So each night over the weekend and we all were exhausted
and fell into bed and slept as sound as this.
We were very grateful to be together,
got time to relax and rest and all in all
a very peaceful weekend.
.............
My sister has come down today for a three day visit,
so I will be back to visit all the blogs in a few days.
Keep well everybody
Until next time have your very best days.
.......
oh one more thing we went to see
Water for Elephants today.
The elephants name was Rosey.
It is a must see movie,
I really enjoyed it.
Be well,
Cinner

Birthdays, Adoptions and Being Thankful.........

Waving a big hello to you.
Today was a fun day for me.
A good friend of mine turned 50.
It was a surprise party that her hubby had planned.
He did a super job.
About 35 of us were hiding in the living room.
Of course they were late getting back to the house,
and we were all quiet, it was very hot in the living room
but finally they showed up. She was so excited.
My friend has been such a hard worker all her life.
All her family and friends were around. One of the grandsons was there too.
The last time I had seen him he was six,  now he is 16.
He is the splitting image of his Dad.
When I got home tonight I remembered that he was adopted.
That must happen a lot, same haircut, same mannerisms,
same smile, same laugh.
I had another friend when I was about twenty and the same thing,
she looked just like her Mom, then I found out she was adopted.
I wonder if that happens often.
Anyway just something to think about.
that make you go hmmmm.
..........
I was thankful today to see old friends,
I was thankful there was not a lot of questions about me using  my cane.
I was thankful that there are still gentleman in the world we live in.
One even fetched my sandals that fell down the basement.
Where was my hubby, he had to bring the puppy to the party,
oh yes he did, I told him I was having no part of it.
well the puppy was the hit of the party,
and hubbys sense of  humor got the party going.
So I am thankful that we can all laugh and share in joy.
They usually have their fire pit going in the back,
but there are fire bans because there
are 34 fires burning in Northern Alberta
So I am thankful that the weather was great and we were able to sit outside.
I was thankful for love, thankful for my friends family that bought her a family ring.
There was no tears until that point.
Seeing others so happy is a wonderful thing, and makes me happy and thankful
for all we have, thankful that we know what is important in life.
I am also thankful for your visits to my blogs,
and very thankful for all the loving comments.
Watch for a Giveaway here later in the month
celebrating my 500 post,
sorry I am a little late at getting to this.
Hopefully it will be worth the wait..
I hope you have your very best day!

It Started Out OK.

So Mothers Day started with the sun beaming in my kitchen window.
This is a new piece I bought after my sisters wedding.
So my day starts off beautifully every morning.
Even the cat knows the best place to be in the morning,
She was having an attitude because I ran out of temptations.
A friend came over
with a small beautiful pink miniature rose plant.
So my day was going perfect.
I love roses, I always feel bad for my Mom because she is so allergic.
My favorite color  are pink roses.
Anyway hubby calls as he worked during the day,
he says, Meet me at the front door.
As I was walking to the door I was thinking he probably
had roses, so imagine my surprise when down
by his feet was this little one.
I am still in shock. She is only six weeks old.
Hubby said, he thought she would be better than roses.
He even named her Rosey, just not fair I say.
He went for groceries and there was a van with puppies for sale.
We have always got our pets from the SPCA.
so I have been going back and forth from
I did not want another dog, to holding her in my arms,
to going outside in the middle of the night in my pjs with her,
and already losing my heart to her.
And I have lost hours of sleep too.
..............
So how was your weekend?
Have your Best Day,
Cinner

Cinner as A Neighbor!

My name is Luca, I live in the yard next door to Cinner,
well there is also a house I can stay in too,
but on nice days in the yard is where you will find me.
This pic was taken early last winter,
now when I look over half of my body sticks up above the fence.
Cinner can't make it over the snowbanks to come pet me.
I just think she is not trying hard enough.
If she does not make it over soon, I am going to jump the fence.
She must know it because she keeps yelling at me.
Luca get down, then calls me a good girl.
When all this white stuff melts Cinner will be in the yard all the time.
She pets me all the time. I can sit on our picnic table and watch what she does.
If I am lonely I just have to look over the fence with these big sad eyes,
and well she knows I either need a scratch or she gets out the water hose
for me to have a cold drink. She is not a bad neighbor at all.
One day she was very angry at me. I tore some six foot boards off the fence
so I could go over and play with Cinner and her dog Kula.
This was hard work but once I got the bottom of the boards off
no problem, I thought I was out for sure. I should have remembered
all the black metal trellaces she has for her plants to grow on.
So I did not get very far and bang I was almost stuck looking through black squares.
She yelled at me Bad dog when I wrecked the boards,
and my Dad keeps putting up new boards.
I think he likes his trips to Home Depot,
and I get to go for a ride,
So it is a win win situation.
Anyway Cinner is up early today,
I can see her through her window, she needs to do something with her hair,
it is in every direction today, she kind of looks strange,
I am getting used to that, when she pets me over the fence,
she is always rubbing the guck out of my eyes,
so maybe she thinks I look a little strange.
I keep barking at her, I am saying Here Cinner, Here Cinner,
She has not learnt the trick yet,
so thats why I give her the look above,
apparently it works everytime
until all the snow got in the way.
I gotta go Cinner is on the move.
Must be walk time for her lucky dog.
I am going to pout or maybe I will chew down a tree today,
just for fun. I do go for a long walk every night when my parents
come home, Sometimes Cinner is out front and I go running full tilt to see her.
I can't jump on her or I knock her down. Sometimes I even have sleep overs
there. My Dad told them I never jump on the bed....He does not know what I do
when he is not home....In the middle of the night when I was at Cinners,
I waited until she and her husband fell asleep and then I jumped up on the bed.
Apparently when I jumped on the man well I landed in a not so good spot,
so he was yelling right away, Cinner was laughing, then Kula jumped on the bed.
It was a bit of chaos in the house for a bit but then we had to go back to our beds.
Anyway the tree is waiting, Have a good weekend, If you have a dog,
I hope you get a chance to take them out for a walk.
I bet they would like that.!
Have a great weekend!

some random thoughts!

The Old Kula after his walk tonight,
He made us laugh he was so tired,
He got on the futon and made this huge heavy sigh,
and his eyes closed and he was done for the day!
The weather was lovely today so that was a treat on this Holiday Monday.
Lots of families were out with their children on tobogans on the hills.
I forgot to take pictures, it was nice to hear the laughter though.
Also the longest hockey game ended today
and raised over 850,000 for Cancer Research.
Can you imagine playing hockey for 240 hours,
some of which was during minus 40 below weather.
It is amazing what some people can accomplish.
We accomplished some minor plumbing problems,
I am sure it is a story for HGTV
called How Many Trips Can be Made to Home Depot
in one weekend. the problem is solved so
I am choosing just to be Thankful
without any snyde comments
from the cookie gallery, meaning me.
My house is 99 years old, and with this age
comes many repair jobs.
We went to a visit to my MIL's today,
Had a nice time.
It was a long busy weekend, and I am looking
forward to the week ahead.
Have a wonderful day,

Country Roads Take Me Home....To The Place.....

This was the morning of our trip to the farm,
what a beautiful sunrise. It was a little foggy
but we were just thrilled there was no snow.
I love starting the day with a sunrise.
Really our world is full of so many spectacular things.
Here we are just a little ways further out of the city,
I can never pick one sunrise over the next, I just find them all simply stunning,
especially when the snow sparkles like diamond as the rays
illuminate the whole area. True Bliss for me.
Daylight almost here.
There was very little traffic on the highway,
I somehow felt I was being guided home.
That God was doing this all for us.
What a gift.
I sure am a Prairie Girl,
I just love the snow, and the snow drifts,
the fresh air, there was some frost on the trees
hard to see here though.
We could see a lot of deer tracks in the snow, That was a close as we got to any deer.
We were blessed with this amazing moon, I have never seen anything like it,
The bright orange started looking like a square on top of a silo.
It was very strange. because it was square it did not even look like the moon.
The eclipse had been two days before so I was surprised to see this.
Can you see the face....the Man on the Moon?
It was bright orange for about one hour
and then it turned into a normal colored moon.
I wish you could have all seen it for yourself
because this picture from my little point and shoot
just does not do any justice to it.
Just about home.
After what seemed like a short night sleep due to Mom and I sitting up
until almost one in the morning, hubby had long gone to rest.
This was the few from the living room outside.
Do you see all the snow hanging overhead on top of the roof.
What a beautiful winter wonderland outside.
The evergreen grove was planted years ago when
my father was about ten. He had planted them with my Grandparents.
Looking at those trees made me think of my Dad,
I could smile and remember our stories, the times we sat in the room,
This year I could smile, my heart was not as heavy as last year.
The view from the lane,
just white everywhere.
This is Buster, my brother and I are following
him in the truck. luckily my brother has a bulldozer
that he can clear the roads. they really have a lot of snow.
Nothing makes The Siberian Husky happier than being in the snow.
Here I tripped over a snowbank having a Cataplexy spell.
I could show you pictures of the dog licking my face.
my brother kept laughing at me, then I would have another Cataplexy spell.
Finally we were able to settle down and get me up.
my right wrist and knee were sore for two days.
My glass was frozen and a change of clothes were necessary.
And I forgot to make a snow angel in the snow.
Buster has to be tied up as there are a bunch of coyotes in the area.
That and he chases the cats!
This is one of my favorite pictures,
by the side of the trees over by the granaries,
some winters there could be 10 feet high snow banks
and we would go and build forts and tunnels in there.
We would get home to the house with the reddest little cheeks,
telling them what a fantastic time we had,
As soon as we were warm and our boots and clothes
dried by the old wood stove we would wander back out
to our forts and to our in imaginations.
Here it was almost the end of  the day.
As beautiful as the sunrises, so are the sunsets.
As beautiful are the days, so too are the nights
The first day flew by so fast, and when we left 2 days later,
both Hubby and I  looking at another sunrise
said, What happened to the days.
They just flew by.
He reached out and held my hand,
We were quiet both reflecting on our visit,
both ready to get back home,
and the wheels and the sound of the motor continued.
It was going to be a Great Day.
I hope you have your Very Best Day Ever.
Take care

Another point of view.

Woof, Kula here. I have to tell you I love the winter, I am American Eskimo/Corgi/Bassett
according to the SPCA. Cinner well she just seems to think I am a pain in her backside...
I don't think I can be that big of a pain. Cinner has not taken kindly to me chasing
her precious cat Stimky.....just on the name alone it should be eaten.
All the dogs in the neighborhood laugh at me because I am supposed to be nice to the kitty.
Sometimes Cinner opens the door at night and calls out "Here Stinky, Here Stinky!"
No wonder the people walk on the other side of the street, I am starting to get a Complex.
The Boxer Luka from next door won't even play with me in the yard. Oh well She is always
crying anyway, always has big teary eyes. Maybe it is sad over there, who knows.
You should see in the spring when Stinky comes in the yard, if I chase her really really
fast, she sometimes ends up in the pond, but with all this white stuff on the yard
Stinky won't come out because it is too cold. What a wimp. I don't want to see hide nor hair
of the house unless when they are feeding me, or when I want to go and see Cinner.
She likes to brush me all the time and I think she is a little coocoo for cocopuffs
because she vacummes me, Oh yes she does, and while she is vacumming me she says,
Is'nt that nice, oh that feels so good. I don't know but if she had her skin sucked up
until she thought it might  disappear just maybe she might have second thoughts.....next time she says Is'nt that nice I just might
pee on her leg and I will tell her Oh that feels so good.! Oh don't tell her that, I am supposed to be
a Good Boy or she sends me to the porch. ewwwwwwww like I am really scared,
I am shaking in my furry 65 pound body, she is gonna send me to the porch,
heck I will even go outside on a minus 20 day, its like a walk in the park.
Send me to the porch, ha she cracks me up!
Besides all I gotta do is sit and look at Cinner for about a half an hour,
and I stare at her and I try really hard not to blink,
She stares back at me and then finally says Shite ,
okay, let's go for a walk.
This training thing is working out pretty good lately,
I have been watching Ceasar Romero on T.V.
usually the problems are with the owners.
Yep things are working out just fine.
I think it could be my best day ever,
If only she would hurry up!
.........
Have a great weekend.

Time to Have Fun!

Happy Friday Morning!
Life, no matter what,
brings hardships to our door,
all of us,
and then facing hardships makes us more resilliant
for the next hardship that comes our way.
Today I am not answering the door , not literally,
but any hardships come my way,
they are going to be kicked to the curb.
Today I am Having Fun!
we all have different ideas of fun,
Here is an little insight as to what mine is.
.........................................
This morning I woke up, had a nice breakfast of yogurt and raspberries,
Went outside sipped my morning coffee,
and listened to the wind howling and blowing around me.
I put my arms up out to my sides
and felt the wind as I glided as an airplane,
arms cutting the wind with ease.
freedom, that is what I felt.
My dog was barking and following me, and jumping,
the next thing I was laughing,
spinning and spinning until I had to sit down on the bench at the back of the yard.
My dog jumped up and licked my face  all excited,
My chimes were making music in my trees,
and I listened to the wind and the music,
and remembered flying a kite as a child.
Today would be great for flying a kite.
We would have to go to a park or get out of the city to an open field.
My husband is off work early, so this is doable.
My dog so excited from me getting him wound up,
I took him for a walk,
which was fun,
walking is fun, exercising is not,
So we walked until my legs felt like rubber chicken legs.
We sat down on a bench at the park watching some of the children playing,
and little children came over to pet the dog,
A million questions about the dog,
lots of laughs and howling faces.
I showed them a bunch of tricks the dog can do.
they loved that, and I loved their laughter,
this was fun.
I even sat on a swing, yes I did. I would have gone a lot higher
if my dog was not with me.
I walked back home with my dog,
visited with a few neighbors that were in their yard,
enjoying the company and a few laughs.
I made it back and my legs had that tingling feeling and were feeling a little wobbly,
but I did it and I had fun.
I put my t.v. on to the jammin station,
lay on the couch and enjoyed some music,
I had to sit up though so I could start my upper body dancing,
then stood up and danced to my kitchen,
rocking it out as I have not in a long time,
No stressors, just me being me,
Wanting to go buy a kite later with hubby,
I really had a fun morning, may not be your idea of fun,
but it sure beats complaining about the wind,
having to walk the dog,
being alone, or that my legs are sore,
or worrying about stuff that really does not matter or that I can change.
Fun is realizing what we can control,
starting with our attitude, Today I am looking up,
if it rains like they predict, I will dance in the rain,
and today I will sing.
My heart is already.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend
and do something fun,
and really
Have your Best Days Ever!

Work Hard, and Play Harder Still.

Hello Everyone,
this is what the boys did over the weekend.
The boys even thanked us for letting them have so much fun.
Are these kids for real.
They got to knock down the old fence with my supervision
and a bit of help,
If it was not for my many coats of paints,
it would have been real easy to get down.
So most of the weekend was spent doing that
but we did find time for other things.

We made time for some berry picking,
my bowl was as twice as full of the boys,
although their stomachs were twice as full as mine.
that's okay though.
I got all these plants from my Dad a few years ago
and this is the best crop we have had.
He would have been happy to see me and his Grandsons picking together.
We all really still miss my Dad  and things trigger memories,
like the raspberry patch.
We all talked about him and were laughing!
So it was nice.

We even took some time to smell some of the flowers,
everything is lush and green,
soon all the flowers will have bloomed,
but I am enjoying them as long as I can.

We got some pictures of some passerbys
One was this beautiful huge Great Dane,
and the other a  little itty bitty dog.
They were quite the sight to see,
my one nephew asked if he
could take the picture, they were more than happy too pose.
So after my nap on Sunday afternoon,
I go outside and I see this,
sitting in my tree that we share with out neighbor,
for a moment I thought it was real and was very excited.
It turns out it was put in the tree to make the pigeons
think it is a real one,
and then they apparently are supposed to leave.
The old house next door has all these crevices
and the pigeons are there and of course more and more
every year. there has to be about fourty of them now.
I will not be sad to see them go if they do...
Will see what happens.
So that was the only owl I have seen all summer, and it was a fake one,Oh well whats a gal to do.
So hours have been spent playing with yo yos,
the yo yos are screamers which mean nothing to me,
So I have learned how to walk the dog,
and have attempted around the world
only to get the yo yo caught around my neck.
Well laughter was in full force then,
it was a good thing I was sitting down
right after that because the boys thought it was hysterical,
and oh my how Aunt Cindy does the most outrageous things,
Little did they know I did it on purpose.
Like cooking hotdogs and putting them all on my plate
except half of one for each of them.
I do these things to get a reaction out of them,
and it works every time.
They told me today they just love coming here,
because there are no rules.
They are so off base,
but I believe in having fun with them,
no tv  or computer, mp3 players or texting
if the weather is nice,
they forgot about that rule.
I don't have to set a bedtime,
because they literally have fallen in to bed every night.
and that is where I should be now,
I am overtired, so not having the best sleep.
Everyone else is sound sound asleep
all tucked in their beds,
The boys on the futon,
with my dog at their feet,
The cat asleep at the window,
my hubby snoring in the next room,
I guess I will try it again.
Have an awesome week everybody.
Hopefully I can get around to visit with you all.
So I hope you laugh often,
and hope you have
Your Very Best Day.
Take care.

Poppies, Dogs, and the sun.

Poppies Abundant in my yard,
Fighting to hang on as nightly they are blown and whipped around
and rained upon the ground,
Somehow in the morning, things turn around,
the sun comes up they stretch again
to say hello to the sun.
Maybe because of our heavy rains
is the reason why they wrap their petals all around them,
protecting themselves from the elements.
Tonight I listen to the fireworks,
and lay my hand on my dogs head,
I tell him he is okay,
but no he growls and barks,
I try to protect him from the elements.
Tonight he will sleep by our bed,
feeling protected and safe,
and in the morning, things turn around,
he will go outside, forgetting the noise
the sun comes up, he stretches again,
to say hello to the sun.

Raspberries, Broken Camera, Rain, and Company, etc.

So my day started today by going outside to see my dog eating the raspberries
off the raspberry plants. This is the first year I will actually get more than just a couple
handfuls. So I scolded him, picked about a cup full, went and sat on the bench
and who jumped up beside me was my dog, sitting there with big brown sad eyes,
I was sucked right in, I would have one, he would have one, boy he has me trained.
I took some picture of my lilies that are in full bloom now,
I was surprised to find the most beautiful yellow lilies.
I had transplanted a bunch from my Mom,
I now have burgundy, yellow, orange, brighter yellow, pink.
so I was quite excited and wanted to show you,
only to discover that my camera is on the fritz.
that makes for a very sad Cinner.
I  will see what I can do with it tomorrow, but I just might have to wait to buy a new one.
Anyway I am not going to fret about it,
I took pictures of my tatoos like I promised and they won't transfer to the computer,
and with the camera the lens stays out. okay sorry I am fretting.
As I am typing I am listening to the pouring rain,
I timed it right today, I actually cut my grass, it took me about half as long as last time,.
so I was thrilled with the progress, however it is going to be terribly muddy out there tomorrow.
It is raining so much that my eaves can not handle it,
the thunder is not as close as before and the sky has quit lighting up.
It sounds like I have a river right outside my window..
..........
Just wondering if anyone is having trouble with blogger,
I have been trying to comment on some blogs with no luck,
Try to go on other blogs and they say pages are not found.
please let me know.
...........
The city has their Capital X Fair starting in the am,
it runs until next Sunday,
so I will have fireworks every night at eleven,
As well the Edmonton Indy is on this weekend.
I will hear rrrrrrr, rrrrrrr, rrrrrr,
around and around the track,
they practice and then the real race is on Sunday.
So it will be a little noisy around here,
but definately I will be feeling alive.
Whooo Hoooo.
...........
My younger sister is coming to stay for three days on Monday,
and my two nephews are staying to help me do some stuff
and to help their Uncle put in a new front fence...hope the weather is good while
they are here. We have a couple things planned for them.
so it will be a fun and a busy time.
I still stay on my schedule while they are here,
I do have more Cataplexy spells because they make me laugh alot.
I am excited to be getting the company.
...................
They will go and watch their Uncle play ball two nights a week.
My SIL has a picnic planned, soccer, and basketball all planned out.
We all play a mean game of Botchi Ball too.
And of course those night where we sit around roasting marshmallows.
so I may not be around much over the next week or so,
know I will be thinking of you,
and wishing you the best days ahead
until we meet again.

I Need To Get Out More!

Hey There,
pleas excuse my dirty windows.
Between the dog licking them and the cat
scratching at the glass trying to get out,
it should be a daily task,
but it's not,
but if I know your coming,
especially my Mom,
I will do a major clean..
.............
Things You May Want to Know About Me.
I like my alone time, more and more as I get older,
But I think I could easily become a Hermit,
I work very hard at not turning into one
and force myself to go out.
I love to Kareoke (spelling)
Favorite Song. to sing..Get Here by Oleta Adams
My Wedding Song, Walk Through This World With Me.
I have three tatoos., two are of flowers, birds and rainbows,
the third is a Geisha lady walking over a bridge on my back.
It was a phase(note to self....I should not have married the tatooist, we later divorced.
There was much happiness, joy and dancing amongst my family members....
I Changed my name back to my Maiden name two days after we split up.
I knew I could be strong with my own name.
I grew up in a Catholic household and I managed a Love Shop for six years.
Not once in six years did my family ask how my job was,
except for my Grandma....
She said, Dear, what do they sell in that store of yours,
I said well lotions and potions, lingerie, books,
and other interesting stuff for couples that are exploring their sexuality.
(I could not say too much, I sure did not want to be responsible for her having a Heart Attack)
She then said, Well I don't know what the big to do is all about then.
Hah, Bless Her Little Heart.
There was much happiness, joy and dancing  amongst my family
when I left that job.
I am a free spirit, somewhat of a Camelian, and love to laugh.
I don't believe in wasted time, The past is a step to your future,
and somehow you get to where you need to be.
When I married my second and current husband,
There was much happiness, joy and dancing amongst my family.
He truly is the Love of My Life.
He is My Forever,
I loved working in the Optical Field,
especially with the Gift of Sight Program.
Please donate old your old glasses to a Vision program.
I am quite Spiritual, very seldom go to church,
but he is here with me every day and I am a believer.
My husband and I say our prayers together every night as we lay in bed.
I am short round and cute, and he is tall, thin and handsome.
The thing that makes me swoon the most is someones smile, eyes, a deep voice.
A deep voice makes my knees weak.
.................
Well I have probably bored you enough for one day.
Today I am going to get out in my yard,
Friends are Coming Over.
One is bringing Sushi,
So we will have a visit, a lot of laughs, so I sit down when they are here.
They understand my Cataplexy and what I go through.
I know it is hard for them to see me fall, or have my head drop when we laugh,
But we all agree a life without laughter would not be much of a life at all.
So there will be much happiness, joy and dancing amongst my friends and I.
It might be my Best Day Ever.

Are You Freakin Kidding Me?

I believe in being a responsible Pet Owner.
I make sure they get their shots, licenses, walked,
cleaned, etc....
The above lovely fellow is Kula as some of you know by now.
and we have a cat named Stinky (black and white)
like you could not guess that one.
.........
Anyway this past Saturday I phone City Hall to pay the pet fees.
After waiting a short while, I did get through and this is how the conversation went.
HER: Hello licensing and Planning Department, how may I help you.

ME:  Hi My name is Cindy -------, and I need to pay for my pet licences.

HER:  You can do that on line.

ME, Yes I know, I do prefer to do this over the phone please.
HER: (With a Snarky Attitude) One moment then.( She comes on the line and says)
That will be 76.00 for the three pets,,,,,

Now here is where it became difficult.

ME: I only have the one dog Kula and the cat Stinky, the other dog Sparky had gone back to the
Spca. back in early February.

HER: We need confirmation of that

ME;  I am confirming with you that he went to the SPCA and was adopted out 2 days after he was put on display.

HER: You will need to come down to City Hall, they are open Monday to Friday to confirm you no longer
have this second dog.

ME; The only confirmation I can give you is that the SPCA  will have a record of this. I am disabled and I am not coming down to City Hall, I need to pay for just my two pets over the phone.

HER; One moment.
(Now here is where the conversation went South Quickly!)

HER; There is no one to confirm you do not have a second dog.
(I am thinking to myself, I am about to confirm that I am going to lose my mind,
however not knowing what kind of a day she had, and what problems she had in her own
life I took a deep breath and bit my tongue as she continued to explain.)
You will have to pay for the three pets because they all show up on the same invoice,
and once you pay for the three pets the bylaw policy is that we do not refund for
any pet licencing, so you should wait until we can verify through SPCA that you no longer
have your second dog Sparky......

Well Miss Cindy Crankypants showed up I am not proud to say, but I thought this was utterly ridiculous
and I have always paid and have had no problems, My concern was that there is a $250.00
fine for each pet if they get caught without a new license.

ME: So you are telling me that you will not take my money to have two of my pets licensed. There must be a place that you can indicate that the client has informed us of not having a second dog and insisted upon paying for her two pets that she states that she has.

HER:  Correct we can not do this unless you want to pay for three.

ME: Can you tell me if my pets got a ticket would there be a note indicating that I had attempted to pay the
licence fee.

HER; NO
ME, So possibly my pets could get a ticket for $500.00 that I would have to pay because you would
not take my credit card over the phone for a total of $46.00. I said that I would go to court and fight the tickets and make sure that I will be calling the complaint department as this is not how to do business.

HER: Well you can pay for the three if you are concerned about getting a ticket, but there will be no refund for the second dog.

ME: (THINKING OMG) I said, no thank you, who am I talking too.

HER; My name is --------
ME, thank you have a very nice day!
............................................................................
Twenty five years I have worked in customer service and I know at times it can not be pleasant, but I also know having worked in management that there is always something that can be done. I just had to shake my head in dismay at the interaction above. I would give them a call on Monday to straighten this up. Then I was thinking about all the people that do not get licences for their animals, and I was just trying to do the right thing, and what if my dog had died, how would have I proved that...................................................................................................

Monday Morning
I make the dreaded phone call,
I kid you not the same lady answered the phone,
HER: Licencing and Planning Department
ME: I would like to renew my pet licences.
HER: OH , one moment please.

Within two minutes all was done on the phone by the new person without any confusion or confirmation
that I did not have the second dog. I never said anything to this lady about what had occurred on Saturday
and at five o'clock there was a message left on my phone by some manager that he was terribly sorry
for the confusion on Saturday and that they will look into changing their policy, but that they do stand by it as it is.   I felt like calling back to say it had been handled and I only had to pay for the pets that I had without
being asked for confirmation. I did not as I felt too much energy had been spent on this already.
......................
But I have to say this, Hundreds of times I have watched shows about puppy mills, horses starving, cruelty to animals, etc and it makes me sick to my stomach. Instead of wasting their energy on such a ridiculous scenario, maybe they should be out doing what the bylaws are meant to do. and that is to
Protect the Animals.
Well I hope you have your Very Best of Days,
Be kind to all people
as we too can have a bad day!
