Days Keep Flying By.

Hi Everyone,

I finally recovered from the saga of the down lines,

having to argue with one of the companies,

3 times booked to come out and fix the one line,

to have nobody show up.

Finally yesterday after going to the

Escalation Manager,

it was finally taken care of.

So I won't rant and rave about how furious I had been,

I like when people follow through on their promises.

This weekend we are planning to do some yard work.

I have been working on my little pond,

moving things around a bit, and

tomorrow I want to figure what I am going to do with

my front yard. We took a pine tree out last winter and now need

to come up with a plan. Ha and then follow through with the plan,

but that is where it gets a little hard.

But slow and sure we will get it done.

Right now I have too many projects going on,

and still have to schedule a two or three hour nap

in every afternoon to control the cataplexy,

but a gal has to do what she has to do.

I appreciate all the comments and am

sorry I have not had a chance to respond,

Jackie I have already done what you recommended

and still very little luck being able to comment on blogs.

I have been reading and keeping up on all your lives.

I think this is an issue with blogger,

Has anyone else been having problems.

This all happened when I checked out the new Blogger.

I Just Can't Stay Away, I was going to wait for fall, but winter Knocked again

I just can not stay away from here,

oh how I have missed you,

I have been reading your blogs

but I can only comment on the new versions of blogger.

Does anyone have any ideas for me.

If you know what I could do I would appreciate

Last Thursday morning I woke up,

no power, no cable, internet, or phone.

But that was nothing when I looked outside

I had a huge branch off of our big old oak tree

that had come down in the storm.

The storm was heavy wet snow, so not only did

the branch off the tree come down, but so did

two of the other lines....so when I went to let the dog out.

I was about to open the back door 

and one of the lines had ripped some of the vinyl siding

and had slid about half way down the house,

part of it was touching the patio table,

it was still snowing and I was thinking,

I don't know if these lines are live or what.

So I had to put the dog in the front yard,

I kid you not, I go to the front door and I push on the door,

It did not budge, so I pushed harder, still nothing, 

I thought to myself WTH,

pushed again and the door opened

there was wet heavy snow blocking the door.

In all my years I have never had that happen.

So the dog goes out, I get dressed to go borrow

the neighbors phone to call my husband..

(This is the line that came down

and you can see the big old tree at the back)

As I am walking I am hearing splat, splat, splat,

heavy wet snow falling off the trees,

falling on vehicles. The neighbors let me in,

had a nice visit and I called my husband,

not that he could do anything, but I just felt better having talked 

to him. As I leave the neighbors house it was now raining,

I was soaked by the time I got across the street.

I grabbed the shovel to move some of the snow

from in front of the house.

And I shoveled and shoveled and shoveled,

When I was close to the back of the house,

I could see the huge part of the tree that had landed

on top of my  pink car....my precious.

I could not get out to see if any damage had been done

because of the wires being down.

I just said a prayer,

made my way back into the house.

Thank goodness the power was on again.

Late the next day I  had the phone, tv, and internet

up and running.

Still have one line down,

will call tomorrow,

It apparently is an old telus phone line.

And as fast as the heavy wet snow came, it was gone.

I had tulips that had just come up through the ground,

ahh the first sign of spring,

they may have froze.

And silly me I did not have my camera

charged, it was really beautiful.

Oh and my car, absolutely no damage.

I think because there was so much heavy

wet snow on it that when the branch broke

and came down that it just landed on the snow.

What a way to wake up, all turned out well,

Easter was very quiet here, wishing all of you

a Happy Blated Easter.

A great weekend for soccer, training, resting, yard work..........

Hello to all, my weekend was a lovely one,

The weather was hot on Fri, Sat, and Sun it rained a little,

and Monday the day planned for yard work was

a bust. It rained on and off. we did manage to do a few things.

Sunday we had gone and helped my MIL in her yard.

Had a lovely visit. She is 84 and has finally admitted that it is

not quite as easy as doing things when she were a bit younger.

We managed to barbecue a couple of times this weekend,

I don't care what anybody says I love barbecued steak,

barbecued chicken, mmmmm maybe tomorrow again.

We barbecue at least 300 days of the year

even in minus 30 below weather

he will be out at the barbecue.

The lilacs are almost ready to bloom,

as well the carigana trees are starting to bloom too.

not sure on the spelling. 

The white lilacs are coming too. I will have better pictures next week.

Setting up some ground rules over the soccer game,

or soccer ball chase.

the big guy Kula loves his soccer ball,

but does not like you to get it away from him.

Rosey can run faster than Kula,

the following picture shows the consequences.

You get rolling around quite a lot and end up spending a lot 

of ground time, it is all playful. He would not hurt her.

Oh I  can see yard work calling my name.

The cat was barricading herself in the house,

as there was just too much chasing going on,

and she knew both dogs would soon forget the soccer ball

and change it up for ala kitten.

They all annoy me because they keep licking at the window.

Here is my favorite plant after it rained.

It looked so pretty with all the water droplets.

Looks to me like someone is getting a talking too.

Must have chewed on something again,

usually the other dogs tail.

So each night over the weekend and we all were exhausted

and fell into bed and slept as sound as this.

We were very grateful to be together,

got time to relax and rest and all in all

a very peaceful weekend.

My sister has come down today for a three day visit,

so I will be back to visit all the blogs in a few days.

The elephants name was Rosey.

I See the Moon, The Moon Sees Me....

Hi Everyone, I hope you had a great weekend.

This picture I took on Sunday night.

It was beautiful, I stood outside thinking of all the times

when I was younger that I would make a wish on the moon 

and the stars. Of course I always tried to see the face of the man in the moon.

I  stood outside in a light jacket, and I had to shiver, it was cooler than I thought.

Yet I stood there in awe of this beautiful moon , grateful that I had stuck

my head outside and took a slight walk in the cool brisk evening air.

Funny as I am typing this I remember my Dad showing me 

where the Big Dipper and the little dipper in the sky,

and sitting outside watching the stars.

Lucky to see a falling star and to make a wish on them.

I also remember him out in the field happy for the extra light

that he would have when there was a full moon.

Funny I don't remember doing any of this with my Mom.

She was always too busy, but somehow Dad managed

.I wish I would, I wish I might,

get to see a falling star tonight.

and then if we were out there and did see one we would 

be all giddy and silly. It was always as if somehow he was responsible

for the falling star, as if he would just reach up and pull one down

especially for us.

I am such a nature girl, so grateful for where I grew up,

grateful for every moment and every learning experience I have had.

Just remembered that I would sit and howl at the moon,

occassionally hearing a wolf or coyote in the background.

I really love my life,

simple, peaceful, slow, cherished.

I had a lovely day on Monday. We are supposed to have beautiful

weather for the Easter weekend coming up.

So I am hoping I will be able to get out and enjoy

some yard work.

I have appreciated all the comments I have had,

I am sorry that I have not responded back,

I do think of you all and just wish there were more hours in a day.

When you have Cataplexy/Narcolepsy sometimes your days just get away on you.

Just know life is good, and I appreciate every time you come and visit.

This is my 500th post, so I will be planning a giveaway soon.

A Wedding Winter Wonderland!

Hi Everyone, we have returned safe and sound  and are back from

celebrating my younger sisters wedding.

If you can believe it the day before there was hardly any snow,

and this is what we woke up to. My sister had called first thing as I was staying at my other sisters.

She said Have you looked outside? I could sense her annoyance,

and I said Think of it as a Gift from God, knowing that as I am saying it,

she is still wishing for better weather.

Surprisingly it did not put a damper on the day,

although a few friends and family could not come because of the roads.

My sister looked beautiful, and her two boys walked her down the aisle.

To me the boys looked so handsome, of course I have never seen them dressed up like this before.

The younger one at the end of the day said he was never wearing shoes like that again,

that his feet were killing him and he was going to get married in his bare feet.

They are both so happy.

The only sad thing of the day was all of us missing our Dad,

especially my Mom. It was the first family function since he died May 30, 2009.

We know he was watching from above and would have been very proud and happy for

my sister. The next day, after the wedding, my older sister had the rest of the family over to her house,

the snow was melting, water was running, and the boys and Uncles played Cribbage for part of the afternoon.

We came home on Monday, the weather is beautiful and signs of Spring are all around us.

My husband is off on holidays this week, so I am enjoying the time with him.

We were going to go to the mountains but with the storm that had blown in, we opted to go another time.

It turns out the honeymooners went to the mountains....like we wanted to crash their time alone.

It is Almost Like Art!

So what happens when the hot water tap

burst off the taps

on a very cold day in Canada.

There was water everywhere,

and there was so much steam from the hot water

I did not have access to the shut off valve

which was in the crawl space.

Note to self...need to be able to lift trap door!

Hubby saved the day as he rushed home from work,

in the meantime and there is no other way to put this.

I about froze my glass off.

....

I can be grateful it warmed up today.

All the ice crystals have melted,

I found new taps online

.......

I wonder how fast the tap flew by my head.

No one was hurt during this fiasco.

some random thoughts!

The Old Kula after his walk tonight,

He made us laugh he was so tired,

He got on the futon and made this huge heavy sigh,

and his eyes closed and he was done for the day!

The weather was lovely today so that was a treat on this Holiday Monday.

Lots of families were out with their children on tobogans on the hills.

I forgot to take pictures, it was nice to hear the laughter though.

Also the longest hockey game ended today

and raised over 850,000 for Cancer Research.

Can you imagine playing hockey for 240 hours,

some of which was during minus 40 below weather.

It is amazing what some people can accomplish.

We accomplished some minor plumbing problems,

I am sure it is a story for HGTV

called How Many Trips Can be Made to Home Depot

in one weekend. the problem is solved so

I am choosing just to be Thankful

without any snyde comments

from the cookie gallery, meaning me.

My house is 99 years old, and with this age

comes many repair jobs.

We went to a visit to my MIL's today,

Had a nice time.

It was a long busy weekend, and I am looking 

forward to the week ahead.

Good Monday Morning to You!

I am glad it is a beginning of a new Week,

and Tuesday a new month!

My weekend was uneventful,

I was fatiqued beyond belief.

I went to sleep tonight at ten, awoke at eleven,

thinking I had been there for hours.

While I was laying in bed,

I was thinking of an unexpected phone call from a friend far away.

The best part of my day, and it was a real pick me up.

My nephew also called, he is teaching himself to play the keyboard.

He is going to call me every weekend with a new song.

When I was at my sisters earlier in the month I had asked

if he had been playing his keyboard at all,

no he has been too busy he said,

I told him I would just love to hear him play.

so he phoned and I was thrilled to listen,

and he has two songs he wants to learn by next weekend.

He took lessons for a while, but seems to do better playing by ear.

He was thrilled to get my feedback about it.

He wants to play 3 songs at his Moms wedding on April 2nd.

His younger brother plays the guitar and has begged me to please not put him in front of people,

He told me he would just freeze up and not be able to do it.

I told him he only had to do it if he wanted to,

what a sigh of relief, a few years ago he would have loved to be center of attention.

how times change, I have been lucky because my sister has always appreciated

any help I could give her with the raising of the boys.

I heard from my niece whom got engaged right after her brothers wedding 3 days later,

so I got to hear the romantic details, young love is so wonderful.

Hubby cooked a roast and the works for supper tonight,

and every time he would see me today he would laugh

and say honey you look so tired,

I would be rubbing my eyes saying oh no, I am just fine.

He would say oh for sure you are.

I have to be so careful with the Narcolepsy/Cataplexy.

I am looking forward to longer days with sunshine,

blooming flowers, the smell of fresh earth in the air,

the birds chirping, the neighborhood coming alive

as once again people venture into their yards,

the warmth of the sun on my bones,

the twinkling stars at night,

the barbecues in the evenings,

.........

but for now I will enjoy my days

and be grateful for every one,

they all have 24 hours,

I am in control of how I choose to spend them,

there is no need to rush them by,

there is no need to miss out on any opportunity

that arises each new day.

What is Up May Come Down

This is my backyard, there is just nowhere to go.

When I see this picture I think of a big

Ice Creme Sandwich

if only

The bump at the very back is my poor car,

and all through my yard there are mountains of white covering big pots,

statues and ornaments that I have left out.

You notice very few footprints in the snow,

Right now we can not get to our shed,

or the back gate,

it has been melting the last few days

but because of the warm weather we are supposed to get freezing rain.

Roofs have come down in the city,

today one of the senior citizens rec centers collapsed from the weight of the snow.

Thank goodness nobody was hurt.

They have helicopters flying over the city looking for cracks in the snow,

apparently it indicates a weak roof.

You just never know what will happen next,

for today I am glad I have a roof over my head!

Flight attendant, this lady is scaring me and she says she is my Mom!

So I have to tell you about my plane ride to the wedding.

My  Mom was already on the plane,

and my sister and I had the two seats beside her.

Mom says Theres my two little girls,

I am wondering whom she is talking too.

Kiss, Kiss, she wants the window seat, so I sit in the middle, my sister in the aisle seat.

This is what I hear....Do you know there are life jackets under the seats, I looked but can't find them.

She then says, you know if your in a boat they give you a life jacket to wear,

so don't you think we should be wearing them now.

I look over at my sister, oh she had a smirk on her face.

I should have asked her to change seats.

So I look back and she has still been talking and she is telling me about

using the seat as a flotation device if we end up in water.

I say Mom the plane is about to take off,

I don't think I need to know any of this,

and this is not a very relaxing conversation.

So she has the sillies and just keeps talking about where the air masks come out

and why she can't see them., etc.

I say Mom, I an calling the flight attendant,

and going to tell her that this lady is bothering me,

and scaring me. Oh no you can't do that she says.

I say well not one more word about the plane ride.

Me thinking to self.....where is ativan when I need one.

My sister leans towards me and says how are you doing,

Are you kidding me how am I doing?

I said to her, Mom is talking about wearing life jackets in the water.

My sister leans towards Mom and says Mom everything will be okay.

What? Are they kidding me. Reaffirm to me that I am going to be okay!

I said to my Mom, if you keep this up I might be sitting on the side of the road

sucking my thumb when we get there.

Oh how the two of them loved that!

Mom says oh your so dramatic, 

And that is when the plane took off,

she was good after that, just kept asking when are  they  coming around

with the cart,

she had a craving for nuts and bolts.

I will give her my package. I thought to myself

next time I will be about six seats back,

or at the very least make my sister sit beside her.

Mom leans in towards me and says,

I am so glad my girls are here with me,

I hear myself say, I am glad too Mom.

I reached out and held her hand and we both looked out the window

and looked at the mountains and then flew into the clouds,

and soon we landed safe and sound.

and all was well again.

A Heads Up

Hey There no I am not frozen,

although I have been thinking some rather nasty thoughts about winter,

but I guess I am lucky enough to know that it is darn cold here.

Imagine if I did not know the difference from hot or cold,

now there would be a problem.

I will be away from the computer for a bit as there is a wedding to celebrate.

You know my hubby never complains when I go away.

Truth be told he is probably as happy as can be.

Oh just imagine the sports he will be watching while I am gone.

I think the snow will keep him busy.

I kid you not he is already surfing the channels.

Anyway I am thinking of you all and will be around

to visit, if I can wrestle my sisters laptop away from her.

I know she will give me a good fight.

She is worse than me,

I just won't tell her I told you.

Hope you are all doing well.

I will visit all of you as soon as I can.

Early Morning Moments

Good Morning Everyone,

I awoke this morning feeling like I could walk to the moon.

It is very uncommon for me to wake with lots of energy

due to the Narcolepsy/Cataplexy.

This morning I was up by 5 am.

The weather is supposed to be 0 degrees today,

I went and shoveled the snow from yesterday which was wet and heavy

due to a morning drizzle here.

But the air was so fresh, the neighborhood had not yet come alive,

other than my husband leaving for work. we had a snowball fight.

He said, Lord let me wake up first, kissed me goodbye and was gone.

Then I played with the dog whom was thrilled to have me up so early.

Then into the house and I walked ten minutes on my treadmill.

So my day is off to a really good start. I still will do my Tai Chi after I am done on the Computer.

This month is a busy one for me, one nephew is getting married in B.C. on the 15th.

My Mom, younger sister and I are going out together.

We will only be gone for 3 days, then we are going to hang out at my sisters in Calgary.

It was taken in Nashville by a friend of hers.

made me think  I would love to start my day with a spot of tea.

My niece is in Nashville working with a song writer.

She then comes back and the recording is done in Saskatchewan

and then back she goes again, And she also works full time

as well as do charity work. I hope she makes it to the top.

As she says its about luck and being in the right place at the right time.

The girl is so photogenic, I have never seen her in a bad picture.

She laughs and says that is only because she deletes them all.

Enough of my family, I have probably bored you to death.

The sun is starting to come up, It is going to be an incredible day.

My cat is lying here looking over my shoulder purring,

the spa nature music is playing, my dog is watching us from the hallway,

and I got a pot of tea brewing, It is such a blissful morning.

Country Roads Take Me Home....To The Place.....

This was the morning of our trip to the farm,

what a beautiful sunrise. It was a little foggy

but we were just thrilled there was no snow.

I love starting the day with a sunrise.

Really our world is full of so many spectacular things.

Here we are just a little ways further out of the city,

I can never pick one sunrise over the next, I just find them all simply stunning,

especially when the snow sparkles like diamond as the rays

illuminate the whole area. True Bliss for me.

Daylight almost here.

There was very little traffic on the highway,

I somehow felt I was being guided home.

That God was doing this all for us.

What a gift.

I sure am a Prairie Girl,

I just love the snow, and the snow drifts,

the fresh air, there was some frost on the trees

hard to see here though.

We could see a lot of deer tracks in the snow, That was a close as we got to any deer.

We were blessed with this amazing moon, I have never seen anything like it,

The bright orange started looking like a square on top of a silo.

It was very strange. because it was square it did not even look like the moon.

The eclipse had been two days before so I was surprised to see this.

Can you see the face....the Man on the Moon?

It was bright orange for about one hour 

and then it turned into a normal colored moon.

I wish you could have all seen it for yourself

because this picture from my little point and shoot

just does not do any justice to it.

Just about home.

After what seemed like a short night sleep due to Mom and I sitting up 

until almost one in the morning, hubby had long gone to rest.

This was the few from the living room outside.

Do you see all the snow hanging overhead on top of the roof.

What a beautiful winter wonderland outside.

The evergreen grove was planted years ago when

my father was about ten. He had planted them with my Grandparents.

Looking at those trees made me think of my Dad,

I could smile and remember our stories, the times we sat in the room,

This year I could smile, my heart was not as heavy as last year.

The view from the lane,

just white everywhere.

This is Buster, my brother and I are following

him in the truck. luckily my brother has a bulldozer

that he can clear the roads. they really have a lot of snow.

Nothing makes The Siberian Husky happier than being in the snow.

Here I tripped over a snowbank having a Cataplexy spell.

I could show you pictures of the dog licking my face.

my brother kept laughing at me, then I would have another Cataplexy spell.

Finally we were able to settle down and get me up.

my right wrist and knee were sore for two days.

My glass was frozen and a change of clothes were necessary.

And I forgot to make a snow angel in the snow.

Buster has to be tied up as there are a bunch of coyotes in the area.

That and he chases the cats!

This is one of my favorite pictures, 

by the side of the trees over by the granaries,

some winters there could be 10 feet high snow banks

and we would go and build forts and tunnels in there.

We would get home to the house with the reddest little cheeks,

telling them what a fantastic time we had,

As soon as we were warm and our boots and clothes

dried by the old wood stove we would wander back out

to our forts and to our in imaginations.

Here it was almost the end of  the day.

As beautiful as the sunrises, so are the sunsets.

As beautiful are the days, so too are the nights

The first day flew by so fast, and when we left 2 days later,

both Hubby and I  looking at another sunrise

said, What happened to the days.

They just flew by.

He reached out and held my hand,

We were quiet both reflecting on our visit,

both ready to get back home,

and the wheels and the sound of the motor continued.

It was going to be a Great Day.

Year End 2010

I have returned after an eleven hour ride from the farm back to our home. We all had a wonderful Christmas

where ever our family celebrated. We could not all be together this year, but still  I all hoped we could.

It was lovely to spend time with my Mother and see all the snow at the farm. How memories can come flooding back. Mom was doing what she loved most, Showing off her cooking skills extraordinaire. I swear she should of had a bakery, she would have made a fortune off of it all. I did receive a book for Christmas called Cooking with Hot Flashes and I have to admit that is about the only thing I know about Cooking, but that is another story.

We had wonderful weather both coming and going and found a station that played all the old songs that we seem to love so well. After 22 hours we are still not sung out so to speak. lol. This year has been a wonderful year, with the odd bump in the road. I have to be honest and tell you that I am looking forward to The New Year.

I love new beginnings. New Challenges, New Hopes and Dreams. I have decided that my word for 2011 will be Control. I am the one that has control in my life and how I choose  to live it, this applies to every avenue of my life. As a friend of mine has said take the opportunity and Let Fly, and that is what I plan to do. Be my Best, Live my Best, and Give my Best..........for now I wish you all the very best of wishes for the New Year and may all your dreams come true. I hope it will be your Very Best Year ever!

Canadian Pile of Snow!

This was outside my back door a few months ago.

Can you tell they were just waiting to get in.

This was a few days ago. He is not moving for nothing!

He is having one of those cozy lazy weeks.

If there is a reincarnation I am coming back as him,

He really has it too good around here.

This was me playing around with textures last night.

For some reason I love it, do you see a mysterious side of me?

If all it takes is a little texture well then I got that handled.

This was taken on Tuesday, it was a beautiful nice lovely day.

This is today about an hour ago after shoveling snow for the third time today.

What makeup was there has slid off my face ,

and the snow well it is still coming down.

so you know that Best Ever Day I say,

today I am thinking that is the biggest Canadian pile of snow (____)

I have ever heard!

.................

Also today I had a doctors appointment at 9 am.

I am sound asleep and I hear bang bang bang at my door.

It was my sister in law at 8:47 am to pick me up.

She says what are you doing?

So I knew if I could get dressed, wash my face, brush my teeth, etc

and leave in five minutes I could still make it on time.

So out into the blizzard we went,

We get into her car, and I say huffing and puffing,

I don't even know if I had time to put on my drawers.

That set me into one cataplexy spell after another,

and she was telling me to quit laughing,

I could not say anything.

So we make it to the doctors office,

and I kid you not my SIL parked the furthest away

she possibly could, because she is all on this

exercise kick and is trying to help me (bless her heart).

So as we are rushing with our heads down running against the wind.

I see my doctor pass me...I kid you not.

I was huffing and puffing and I just knew there was no way I could catch him.

Anyway finally I am in the office, I have been ditched by my SIL as she had to go to the post office,

so we went our separate ways at the door.

I get up there yes 8.59 am.

Wheeeew.

Then they put me in the room, the doctor will be right with me,

I am thinking, oh just let me catch my breath first, but I went along with it.

The next thing you know I have a hand on my shoulder,

and a voice leaning into me saying Cindy you need to wake up.

It was the doctor, he apologized for being late and making me fall asleep waiting for him.

He was never so helpful, I think he went into shock when he saw me,

because he kind of jumped back.....this happens when I have no makeup on.

......

so thats how my day started, and it has been one of those days

ever since.

All I know it was a good thing to get home,

and find out I had put on my drawers...

I could hear my Grandma saying,

Always wear clean underwear,

in case your in an accident,

or have I just heard the saying so much

that I think my Grandma said it.

I think I shall sleep on 

that.
