Birthdays, Adoptions and Being Thankful.........

Waving a big hello to you.
Today was a fun day for me.
A good friend of mine turned 50.
It was a surprise party that her hubby had planned.
He did a super job.
About 35 of us were hiding in the living room.
Of course they were late getting back to the house,
and we were all quiet, it was very hot in the living room
but finally they showed up. She was so excited.
My friend has been such a hard worker all her life.
All her family and friends were around. One of the grandsons was there too.
The last time I had seen him he was six,  now he is 16.
He is the splitting image of his Dad.
When I got home tonight I remembered that he was adopted.
That must happen a lot, same haircut, same mannerisms,
same smile, same laugh.
I had another friend when I was about twenty and the same thing,
she looked just like her Mom, then I found out she was adopted.
I wonder if that happens often.
Anyway just something to think about.
that make you go hmmmm.
..........
I was thankful today to see old friends,
I was thankful there was not a lot of questions about me using  my cane.
I was thankful that there are still gentleman in the world we live in.
One even fetched my sandals that fell down the basement.
Where was my hubby, he had to bring the puppy to the party,
oh yes he did, I told him I was having no part of it.
well the puppy was the hit of the party,
and hubbys sense of  humor got the party going.
So I am thankful that we can all laugh and share in joy.
They usually have their fire pit going in the back,
but there are fire bans because there
are 34 fires burning in Northern Alberta
So I am thankful that the weather was great and we were able to sit outside.
I was thankful for love, thankful for my friends family that bought her a family ring.
There was no tears until that point.
Seeing others so happy is a wonderful thing, and makes me happy and thankful
for all we have, thankful that we know what is important in life.
I am also thankful for your visits to my blogs,
and very thankful for all the loving comments.
Watch for a Giveaway here later in the month
celebrating my 500 post,
sorry I am a little late at getting to this.
Hopefully it will be worth the wait..
I hope you have your very best day!

What is Up May Come Down

This is my backyard, there is just nowhere to go.
When I see this picture I think of a big
Ice Creme Sandwich
if only
The bump at the very back is my poor car,
and all through my yard there are mountains of white covering big pots,
statues and ornaments that I have left out.
You notice very few footprints in the snow,
Right now we can not get to our shed,
or the back gate,
it has been melting the last few days
but because of the warm weather we are supposed to get freezing rain.
Roofs have come down in the city,
today one of the senior citizens rec centers collapsed from the weight of the snow.
Thank goodness nobody was hurt.
They have helicopters flying over the city looking for cracks in the snow,
apparently it indicates a weak roof.
You just never know what will happen next,
for today I am glad I have a roof over my head!
Until next time,

Flight attendant, this lady is scaring me and she says she is my Mom!

So I have to tell you about my plane ride to the wedding.
My  Mom was already on the plane,
and my sister and I had the two seats beside her.
Mom says Theres my two little girls,
I am wondering whom she is talking too.
Kiss, Kiss, she wants the window seat, so I sit in the middle, my sister in the aisle seat.
This is what I hear....Do you know there are life jackets under the seats, I looked but can't find them.
She then says, you know if your in a boat they give you a life jacket to wear,
so don't you think we should be wearing them now.
I look over at my sister, oh she had a smirk on her face.
I should have asked her to change seats.
So I look back and she has still been talking and she is telling me about
using the seat as a flotation device if we end up in water.
I say Mom the plane is about to take off,
I don't think I need to know any of this,
and this is not a very relaxing conversation.
So she has the sillies and just keeps talking about where the air masks come out
and why she can't see them., etc.
I say Mom, I an calling the flight attendant,
and going to tell her that this lady is bothering me,
and scaring me. Oh no you can't do that she says.
I say well not one more word about the plane ride.
Me thinking to self.....where is ativan when I need one.
My sister leans towards me and says how are you doing,
Are you kidding me how am I doing?
I said to her, Mom is talking about wearing life jackets in the water.
My sister leans towards Mom and says Mom everything will be okay.
What? Are they kidding me. Reaffirm to me that I am going to be okay!
I said to my Mom, if you keep this up I might be sitting on the side of the road
sucking my thumb when we get there.
Oh how the two of them loved that!
Mom says oh your so dramatic,
And that is when the plane took off,
she was good after that, just kept asking when are  they  coming around
with the cart,
she had a craving for nuts and bolts.
I will give her my package. I thought to myself
next time I will be about six seats back,
or at the very least make my sister sit beside her.
Mom leans in towards me and says,
I am so glad my girls are here with me,
I hear myself say, I am glad too Mom.
I reached out and held her hand and we both looked out the window
and looked at the mountains and then flew into the clouds,
and soon we landed safe and sound.
and all was well again.
take care and I hope you have a great Monday,
until next time,
Cinner
.......
The above story is 100% true!

A Great Day, beware of dogs driving trucks.

good morning to you all,
a wonderful morning was waiting for me when I woke up.
Hubby was off to work early,
so we had a coffee together with some French Vanilla creamer,
yes I love my coffee, the taste, the smell, the gurgling of the pot.
He told me he had taken a picture of the sunrise yesterday,
and here it is
I don't get to see the sunsets like that in the city,
because of all the trees and the buildings,
so this was the perfect way to start my day.
Here is another photo,
Is this not one of the greatest ways to start a morning,
with hope, and light, and so much beauty,
I love the colors in this one,
what is truly amazing is no matter how many times you see
a sunrise they are always more beautiful than the last
or at least that is how I feel.
He also told me I might be delivered a package,
I hope it is not by these guys,
They were in the Tim Hortons the other day looking all Regal like,
Yesterday I was delivered a beautiful package by our postman
all the  way from South Carolina,
My gift of jewels arrived from the lovely Connie
Thank you so much Connie.
I was thrilled and it felt like a birthday present,
now talk about getting the right gift,
She must have ESP because I got some beautiful oatmeal soap
handmade from a neighboring farm,
a soft hotpink washcloth, a book called
home spa refreshing by Liz Wilde,
A hug coupon, the most beautiful envelope with hand drawn flowers
and my name and a beautiful card with a beautiful note inside,
also a lovely little notepad that I think is too darling to write on,
but I will, I don't save my china for good,
you know what I  mean.
you could feel her warmth ooze right off the page.
Her moto on her blog says,
When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.
Now I love someone with that attitude!
you may want to go and pay her a visit,
her link is above.
As soon as I finish writing this I am off to start
my day with a relaxing bath, and read my new book.
It sounds heavenly.
......
Also all over blogland is a Magical blog party
so I am wishing everyone a magical day,
The song running around in my head for today is
Witchy Woman.
Have a great weekend.
enjoy all the treasures life has to offer,
and today if you have lemons, make lemonade,
oh and beware of dogs driving trucks.
47 feels wonderful.
Until the next time.

I think he may be from Mars.

I awoke this morning with sun shining through my window,
that is the first time in a while,
I lay in bed watching the  light bounce around the room
as it hit the prism I have strung in my window,
What a beautiful day,
I bounced out of bed feeling like I was a teenager,
okay at least in my thirties,
Soon I was sipping on my morning coffee,
with just the right mix of milk and sugar,
to make me think it was as good
as Tim Hortons double doubles,
all I knew I was home, happy,
feeling alive, and grateful.
grateful for all the joy in my life,
grateful to know
that Gods fingerprints
are on everything,
and grateful that I can laugh and usually see the best in a situation,
...................
My anniversary was Saturday,
Hubby came home with 3 lovely sunflowers,
a beautiful card with an elderly couples hands on the front,
It was beautiful as you could see the lines in their hands,
and you could feel the love they shared,
Hubby gave me a little angel pin
with a card about how special I was,
and he sat there with another package on his lap,
all excited for me to open it.
It was a metal plack
that said the following,
Inside me there is a thin woman
screaming to get out......
I can usually keep the
B---h quiet with chocolate.
I sat there with my mouth open,
thinking to myself
Is he out of his ever loving mind,
He said what, whats wrong,
I said I don't think this is very funny,
nor very romantic on my anniversary...
He said its not me saying it,
It is you saying it,
Usually you would laugh over this,
Then he says is it a full moon,
I say no it is not a full moon,
and you can not blame the moon for everything,
I told him you have taken my most sensitive issue,
and reminded me of it,
so then he took the metal plaque and he hit himself over the head with it,
saying, Sometimes I don't think, I am stupid, stupid, stupid,
and then he crossed his eyes and handed me the sign,
I said it is the first time you ever messed up on our anniversary,
I said jokingly if you get me another sign like that,
we won't make our twelve year anniversary.
And we both laughed.
..............
Now I ask you Did I over react.
What would have you thought.
Would you look in the sky to see if there was a full moon,
or would you just bite your tongue
and pray for the strength to not hit him over the head with the sign.
...........
I hope you have a great day,
Beware of men acting foolish!

Silly is Happening Around Here!

Some silly things we do,
Lately at my house,
things have been in a bit of disaray,
that's okay because I have had quite a bit of company
this summer,
But some things have made me say hmmmmmm!
Like hidden muffin wrappers in my drawer in the computer room.
I even think I know which young growing adult did that,
but why, I would have said it is okay,
have it, but don't hide the paper.
...............
Making a hotdog with cheese,
but forgetting to take off the wrapper before putting it in the microwave.
.Apparently it did not taste so great.
Aww!
....................
Almost throwing out the mail with the recyclables.
Luckily I had realized no mail or flyers had come in,
but that is what you get when you get someone to help you clean
when he would rather be at the basketball hoop
doing what he loves the most.
...............................
Rushing to the early ball game to find out you don't play until late.
Same week missing another game,
and saying your wife did not mark it on the calendar,
I wonder if I ate his homework too.
......................
Installing a new barbecue burner
and saying to the wife, these must be extra parts,
Me saying to hubby, well you can just look for the extra parts
after the barbecue explodes.
He said I am a drama queen,
I then broke into song singing,
We've been blown , blown, way up high,
because my hubby won't try to use all the parts.
We both started laughing,
Another silly thing,
I went into the  house while he lit the propane tank.
Luckily he arrived a few moments later,
or I may of had to cook supper myself.
ok that was a funny one.
not.
.................................................
So any strange things happen at your house lately.
I would love to hear about them.
Have a great day,
and I hope you find time to laugh.

She got to Laugh Last!

Some of you have seen this picture before,
I am reposting it as a reminder not to stress over things,
and to remember what is funny in our lives.
One of my favorite things is to make others laugh,
I am usually pretty good at this,  not today.
So  please see the silliness in this somewhat personal story..
I had some tests done today as I have been having some stomach problems,
nothing serious, just having some tests.
So I get my gown on which apparently was on backwards,
how is a big girl like me going to get my short arms around to tie from behind,
so my day started with a look of OMG from the technican.
I wish she could have seen the look on her face it was priceless.
she almost took a step back. I chuckled inside.
So now she gets me on the table, asks me some questions,
No I am not pregnant I say, Are you sure?
I felt like saying no, I am quessing,
but I did not, I said I absolutely am not.
Well when was the last time she says,
Now I am thinking to myself, well let me just get out my daytimer and I will check this out.
all the while thinking am I supposed to remember this, then thinking well if I don't then it was not the most
memorable, ...some of the medications I am on actually decrease my interest in this.....
so I say, I think 2007, now would you not have laughed at that I ask you?
no I  got read the riot act, they have to know for sure, well I about had to sign my life away,
I told her I had never had children, had testing, not possible, blah, blah, blah,
Well when is the last time you had intercourse? she asks.
So I pull a number out of my hat, lets say last Thursday.
Okay well then you should be fine.
So I think to myself,
I wonder what she would have said if I said any other day of the week.
I was just shaking my head in my mind as I signed that form...
anyway
......
now that give me a package that makes you feel like you have just swallowed air pockets,
Are you comfortable, make sure you don't belch she says.
I open my mouth to say I am fine and yes you guessed it,
I belched as I replied I am fine....not on purpose, oh no no.
Piercing eyes of daggars burnt through my skin,
I swear I could feel it.
So now I go from side to side, lay on my stomach, roll over on my back,
If you are in a gown that is on backwards, sizes to big, I swear it was a tent,
And I am all twisted up, I think well now I can not move, this should be fun.
So back the other way I go, lord I lay there thinking I could have just run a ten mile marathon,
I was already exhausted, and I had not even made it into the second room,
But at least by this time the technician and I had bonded and she seemed in much better spirits.
SO after 4 glasses of barium and almost 5 hours later I could leave,
Some of the other patients had gone home after an hour, and we were all having the same test done.
One little young lady was complaining because she had waited over an hour and a half,
So there was 4 of us waiting to be called back into xray and we all had the giggles,
I told them about telling the technician about back in 2007,
I thought we were going to have to pick the one lady up off the floor,
so when I left I thought well at least we had a few laughs,
made a not so pleasant time okay.
When my husband got home I asked him what he did last Thursday,
He said he played ball and I laughed thinking,
he is probably right, then I asked if he could remember 2007.
Anyway I told him the story and we had quite a laugh.
I really believe the ability to laugh at myself is what keeps me grounded.
after all laughter is the best medicine.
........
I promise never to discuss this subject again,
besides the technician I am sure
got the last laugh today,
............
I am sure she knows I have not left my house all day since I have come home.
............
may you always have laughter in your life.
Be well.

Smile and Sucking Fish!....yes I spelled that right.

I think this  fellow is amazing,
Every time I see him in the yard,
my heart warms instantly,
Happiness has that effect on me,
and smiles are so contagious.
I sit  in the sun most mornings and meditate,
A smile has such a calming effect,
In some cases a smile can give so much hope ,
................
My wish for today,
I hope you smile at others, and at yourself,
try it, sit in front of a mirror and smile at who is looking back at you,
because that is your very best friend.
I hope you know and love that image well.
My other wish for today,
is to expect nothing, but to appreciate everything.!
May we all have a blessed day!
...................................
Last night on the news I saw a new way for pedicures,
It has not passed health regulations so for the mean time the lady can only
provide this luxury to family and friends.
What you do is put your feet in this tank.
and a special kind of fish eats off any dead skin.
My thought process was this,
I am not letting anything alive near my feet,
there was about 20 in the tank,
I am sure this would cause me to have a Cataplexy spell,
which now would be  ,my body in the tank...
So I will be passing such a luxury.
I said to my husband was that the only way to sanitize
the tank would be to sterilize the tank,
and you could not use the same fish again.
Things that make me go hmmmm
and are you kidding me.
Apparnetly they are doing this over in Asia.
what do you think about this.
Keep Smiling
and have your Best Day Ever.
