These Boots Were Made For Walking

These boots I found on Pinterest, yes that is where I have been.
Now every now and then you find something that screams your name

unfortunately no it was not my husband in the throws of passion,
it was this pair of boots. If I were a pair of boots these would be them,
fun loving, artsy fartsy, joyful, flower child, living with attitude,
rockin out, getting down, diva baby.....getting my groove on
walking down the street. Would I strut, yes probably like a chicken,
but I would know in those boots I was all that and a bag of chips.
Do I worry about the rest of the outfit no because those are
some draw me some attention my way boots.
Slapped by a piece of reality,
me in orthotics walking the dog,
No the dog should not notice.
............
Can you guess how many cups of coffee I have had this morning,
there just may be a surprise.
Have a wonderful weekend,
I hope to get around to visit everyone.
Take Care,
Cinner

He Turns 59 today!

He is a kid in grown up clothes,
his hair turned to white at fourty,
He plays in a senior league,
he drives over an hour each way to work,
he loves to barbecue,
and loves our yard as much as me.
He has the best sense of humor,
he would rather not tell you something
if he thinks you will worry,
which makes me worry even more.
We visit his Mom once a week,
because he wants to,
one of the reasons I married him was
because of how he treated his parents.,
His strong working hands
that I love to hold.
He has a very soft heart
loves animals,many of which find
there way to my door.,
let's say he keeps me on my toes,
his deep deep voice,
swoon,
oh I am a sucker for a voice.
He is my best friend.
Happy Birthday hon,
I love you.

Beauty is in the Eye and Heart of the Beholder.

This old barn building
has stories to tell, you can see from the expression still visible
at the front of the barn. Almost an eerie,
"Oh no, don't go yet!"
I sat staring attentively at the face.
The wind was echoing through the wholes apparent in the walls and the collapsed
back portion of the barn. I could hear the horses that gave birth in the barn,
the fouls struggling to stand on their feet, nestled at the sides of their mother.
I could hear the cows as they stood patiently waiting to be milked,
the warm milk being forced with each hand into the pail that soon
would be put through the creamer, there would be the making of butter.
there would be the odd kicked pail and the swirl of the tail to remind
you that patience was sure to run out.
There was the jumping back to get out of the way of the leg that was trying to kick you.
There were chickens in and out, cats hidden in the bales, sneaking nearer to get
a taste of the warm milk.
Feed was fed to the cattle and horses,
corrals were cleaned, fresh water ran,
Many games of hide and seek were played in the barn,
many words spoken, many plans made
many lives have walked through the doors,
the bones of the farm.
As I sat there I could smell the smells from long ago,
I picked up a piece of wood and felt is smooth in my hands.
the elements of many many years causing creaking, and groaning.
I could smell wild flowers, and what had just been a fresh rain.
The sun shining and gleaming and protecting,
and showing warmth to an old friend.
I smile and know that every time
I pass this old barn,
I will be reminded of the one we had on the farm.
The one that my father built with his father and grandfather.
It is not just an old crumbling building, it is history,
it is family, it made me whom I am,
so I will stay awhile and rest while I listen to the wind.
If we listen really closely, and look really hard,
we can find gold in all we touch.
I will always remember where and
from whom I have come from.
with love.
...........
I hope you have a great day.

CNN 2010 Hero Awards.....A Must Read!

I lucked out on Sunday evening when I was able to watch this show on T.V. ....It is a show where thousands have been nominated as heroes and ten are chosen. They had the most inspiring stories I had ever heard, and I can only admire these people. What struck me the most is that these were all down to earth people, they looked like you and me. From watching the show it is the smallest things that can change a world, save a life,
feed a hungry individual, give light for thousands to read by so they have educations. If after seeing the show, I can not imagine one person not feeling empowered that they too can make a difference and change the world.
The below information was found in the India Journal on Wikepedia
Date Submitted: Thu Nov 25, 2010
LOS ANGELES, CA - In a star-studded ceremony on Nov. 20 at The Shrine Auditorium, here, Anuradha Koirala was named the ‘2010 CNN Hero of the Year’, after nearly two million votes were cast at CNNHeroes.com.

Actress Demi Moore introduced Anuradha Koirala as one of the Top 10 CNN Heroes; host Anderson Cooper announced Koirala as the CNN Hero of the Year at the end of the evening, after a powerful performance by Grammy Award-winning band Sugarland. Each Top 10 CNN Hero received $25,000, and Koirala’s organization, Maiti Nepal, will receive an additional $100,000.

Anuradha Koirala is fighting to prevent the trafficking and sexual exploitation of Nepal’s women and girls.   Her group, Maiti Nepal, has facilities throughout Nepal and India, with its main campus in Kathmandu.  Roughly translated, Maiti means “Mother’s Home.”  By raiding brothels, patrolling the India-Nepal border and providing safe shelter and support services, Koirala and Maiti Nepal have helped rescue and rehabilitate more than 12,000 Nepali women and girls since 1993.

Koirala was voted CNN Hero of the Year from among the Top 10 CNN Heroes, who were all honored at the event. Celebrity presenters included Halle Berry, Kid Rock, Renee Zellweger, Jessica Alba, Marisa Tomei, Gerard Butler, Kiefer Sutherland, Aaron Eckhart, and LL COOL J. Bon Jovi, Sugarland and John Legend featuring Common & Melanie Fiona each performed.

Now in its fourth year, CNN Heroes is a multiplatform campaign that shines a spotlight on individuals who go to extraordinary lengths to serve others; in 2010, the campaign received over 10,000 submissions from more than 100 countries. The Top 10 CNN Heroes were selected by an esteemed Blue Ribbon Panel, which included, Muhammad Ali, Ela Bhatt, Sir Richard Branson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, and Ricky Martin among other humanitarians.
I Like this quote I dislike this quote“A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming  obstacles.”By Christopher Reeve

The top 10 CNN Heroes of 2010 (in alphabetical order):
Please go through the list, you will be inspired by each and everyone of them, so often we read of the hardships and they can be overwhelming, so it is wonderful to see the stories and feel a renewed hope

A Hero
A lady reaches out to save the children
from the harsh reality of prostitution,
a man destroys the minefields,
that he and other children were taught to assemble,
his reality is the necessity within him to save another life,
so far he has dismantled over fifty thousand,
A man sees veterans coming home from war,
he does what he can by building homes so that they can have a better life,
It is because of these men and women that he is free,
Another man goes against his culture
by taking care of the poor, the hungry, the sick,
He even hand feeds some of them,
and knows that everyone needs love.
Another lady fights to save people from obesity,
to give guidance and better understanding,
another man distributes 14,000 lights to homes
so children can read and do their homework,
so they can have a better life,
Another man builds bridges for safety
so people are not swept under water when the rivers run high,
Another woman cares for the sick in the hospitals
helping to change a country,
another man, another woman,
another child,
just one moment,
when one acts,
another hero
has awoken.
Hope
continues,
everlasting.

Heart Shapes and Odds and Sods.

Hard to believe that it is November 1 already,
we had about 60 children at the house last night,
some of them had some wonderful costumes,
being the bird lover I am, my favorite
was a little guy about two dressed in
a Macaw Parrot outfit.
He was just darling, I asked him if he knew
what noise a parrot makes and he screeched.
we all laughed and he was thrilled to do it for us again.
There were just enough treats and I have to say
I did not even sneak one.
..........
Updates,
the stolen bikes from next door were never found,
the people that tried to break in have not been caught,
nor have I seen them lurking at the window,
my younger sister is coming for a visit on Thursday,
The honey Do List mentioned in my last post
was not a success.
There just was not enough hours in the day...
See how I defend him. lol.
................
I wish you all a wonderful week ahead,
May you have some of your
Best Days Ever.
Be well.

Mountain Getaway, Breakin Update, and hello

Hi Everyone,
first of all thank you to so many of you whom left loving comments
about my intruder, the comments were really appreciated. I felt very uneasy the next morning,
so hubby did put the storm windows on. After talking to our neighbor he realized he had
been broken in and they had managed to get both of their mountain bikes.
Also looking around in our yard there were a bunch of items sitting on a bench that
looked like the crooks had set there ready to take their loot once they got things
out of the house...even if you can believe it a basketball.
We had planned to get away for a few days
and now I did not want to go,
but we did and oh the peace and relaxation
were just what I needed.
My hubby too,
he works so hard taking care of us both.
So here we are on our way to my favorite place,
Canmore, Alberta
Most of our three days away were
spent walking the trails, sitting on benches,
drawing, feeding the ducks, shopping,
and even found time for my much needed naps,
although it is very hard to force yourself to rest
when your in a place like this.
The mountains in the background are known as
The Three Sisters,
always makes me think of my two sisters and I,
speaking of sisters we had a lovely
Thanksgiving Supper at my younger sisters house on Monday evening
and had a lovely visit with both sisters before we headed to our destination.
One of my joys was feeding the ducks,
at one point I was sitting on the ground
and there were 16 ducks not more than a foot away.
some of them were getting a little aggressive with one another
as they were fighting over food,
The one above is a male, easy to tell because of the beautiful bright colors,
When all the food ran out, He looked at me in disgust
as if to say what, thats all you brought with you laaaady.
I actually got up off the ground, after all they are wild,
and I did not want to be writing a story about some ducks
having my butt for lunch,
there is only so much of my stories you would believe.
LOL.
It was get up or Qwack up!
Groaner.
Now at about 430 the second day we were standing on the balcony taking pictures
and check this out,
this streak of light took a couple of minutes to go behind the mountains,
we are still not sure what it was, it was beautiful and we were thrilled to get it on camera.
On Thursday the weather was 22 degrees Celcius,
a gorgeous day! Everyone was in shorts.
Friday am when we woke up to leave,
we woke up to this, beautiful yes but a little early
and such an extreme from the day before.
All the ducks were no where to be found.
and this is what we ended up driving into
just for the first hour of the day,
By the time we made it home,
none of the white stuff had made its way here.
So we are going to do some yard work this weekend,
as I know anything is possible at this time of the year.
When we arrived home I had that uneasy feeling walking into the house
just for a moment as I remembered the attempted break in.
After a deep breath I felt safe and sound
and glad to be home.
..............
Take care for now,
hope you are all well,
Will get by to read your blogs over the weekend.
I hope you have your greatest of days!

happy Canada Thanksgiving!

Today  Eye thought to do something a little different.
On Monday I am having Friends
and family over for Thanksgiving,
That is what I am most thankful for this year.
We will sit around eating turkey, and all the fixings.
I love these get togethers. They are too few to get all our family together
because of everyone being spread out. So we try to enjoy each other when we do.
Yesterday I was outside raking and bagging leaves, now the trees are bare,
I could only do so much. I think there is way more leaves this year than last/
I could be wrong, maybe it just seems that way when you are bagging them. LOL.
All the leaves I put in orange bags, so that I am ready
for Halloween at the end of the month.
Usually every year we get snow on Halloween.
Yesterday on the news I heard they were trying to change the date of it,
maybe the 15th. I don't think that will happen.
We usually have a couple of pumpkins,
to set the mood.

So while raking leaves, there were still a few flowers that have come,
We have had frost and yet with our nice weather a few have sprung up
and graced us with their prescence.
Even one small miniature rose which was a great surprise.
I have five plants and only one bud on them all.

Nothing right now to see the bugs and even an odd butterfly
flitting about in the yard.
They are flying slower than usual.
and soon will be gone.
Hubby and I danced in the yard in the middle of the day,
we must have danced too hard because it rained
and then we spotted a rainbow.
It gave us great joy,
even though we could not find the
pot of gold at the end of it.
It really was a lovely day,
when you have faith and hope,
you can live and laugh and enjoy.
My friend Tabitha  has a blog named I Choose Bliss
and she inspires me everyday. Please pay her a visit
and check out her Family Mission
of spreading smiles one goody bag at a time.
She is a real love and one very inspirational woman.
There is so much love here in blogland.
Now I usually carve rocks,
but have not done any this year because of arthritis in my hands.
Please go and check out Kim Mailhout at Queen of Arts
She is known in Blogland for her wonderful
Rock My World Rocks that she sells through Etsy.
You will be amazed at her artistic abilities.
Love, love, love her.
Please go have a look and it is also her birthday tomorrow, Oct. 9th
So please wish her a happy birthday, she would like that.
I wish you all a very
Weekend
May you ponder what you are Thankful for
and for those of you fellow Canadians.
Have a Great Thanksgiving,
and everyone a wonderful weekend.
take care
.....
p.s.
My Godchild gets all my little rocks to play with,
we make up stories with them.
She has such an imagination!
...........
I am thankful that we are all unique and perfect just as we are.
Hugs!

Never Take It for Granted.

The morning sunrise,
The smell of the sea, the sound of the water,
the breeze on my face, if only that were true,
the heart in the sky, do you see it?
Such a lovely day.
The colors of the day are emerging,
the clouds in the sky are breaking up,
It must be raining way off.
It will be a beautiful day.

Chatterbox Falls,
so appropriate for my sister to go,
my Dad always said she was a Chatterbox.
lol Penquin
Check out these trees, Oh I would love to climb in them.
yes even at my age,
Imagine swimming here, looks so peaceful.
I am sure the eagles would be flying overhead.
Look at these harbor seals, lollygagging their day away.
Now I wonder what happened to this tree,
maybe a great  place for a treehouse.
beautiful Ignukshuks
(not sure of spelling)
A beautiful grey whale apparently that has
been swimming in the channel all season
as the salmon run was more than normal.
My sister said it was hard to get a picture,
because you either watched the thrill of a lifetime,
or you took a good photo.
she chose to watch.
I would have been so excited.
Beautiful picture of the falls,
can you imagine how loud they are,
if you have never heard that,
it is so powerful that it really is indescribable.

Pictures are courtesy of my lovely sister and her fiance.
Our world is so beautiful, please do your part in taking care of it.
...............
I hope you enjoyed seeing one of the Islands in British Columbia.
Have a great day, the sun is shining, and I am going to enjoy
these last warm days of fall.
Take care,
Cinner
